Very open dog friendly hotel with first class food and outstanding staff. Our golden retriever and both my wife and I were truly spoiled. Will definitely return.

Wonderfully intimate and relaxing country house hotel. Small - there are only around 10 rooms - but perfectly formed. Rooms are generously sized and comfortable, with better than average tea and coffee facilities. The lounge is cozy and comfortable and the grounds pretty even in winter. There's a micro-spa offering treatments, plus a wood fired hot tub and sauna available for exclusive use. (Well worth it! It's hard to beat sitting in the hot water, sipping prosecco and gazing out over the Dumfriesshire landscape.) The food is amazing, both breakfast and dinner knocked it out of the park. Staff unfailingly helpful, kind and generous. The hotel is also dog friendly, with plenty of pooch-related treats (such as doggy breakfast and a dog wash station), without being dog ridden. You won't feel out of place whether you have a dog or not.Definitely a hotel aimed at adults, though. (Not in a tacky, "adult" way, just in the sense that it's more pitched at relaxing and quiet than endless fun.)

Lovely old style hotel. Staff were very efficient and friendly and made our stay memorable. There was a great selection of homemade food and vegan, and vegetarians we're well catered for. Covid regulations were in place. Overall a very relaxing stay and we can't wait to return.

Have just spent 2 nights at this amazing hotel. Food was out of this world Richard our host looked after us like royalty, had some spa treatments with Heidi and felt fantastic after them. This hotel is a hidden gem and we will definitely be back.

I absolutely loved my weekend stay! The rooms were beautiful and the staff were so lovely and attentive. The food was amazing and the home made shortbread in the room was delicious! We had a great time in the hot tub and sauna, would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Could be difficult, ballsed our booking, they did, but, redeemed themselves, food very good, and service attentive, relaxevous, would go back, definitely.

Spent 2 glorious nights here with family and our communal labrador. Our room, the garden suite, was well furnished and the dog loved the rag rug in the conservatory attached. Breakfast and dinner were both of very high standard and catered imaginatively for both vegetarians and meat eaters. The staff are welcoming and the grounds are immaculately maintained. Will visit again very soon.

Fab hotel. Only giving it a 4 as couldn’t get a spa treatment as fully booked otherwise would have been a fab. Surrounding are beautiful. Hot tub and sauna was excellent with gorgeous views and dinner and breakfast was delicious. Would def recommend.

Evening meal could've been better had the steak and it was a £7.50 supplement which wasn't worth it. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic though. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Could've been cleaner as there was dust on the lamps but the bed was comfortable. The location was excellent with a lovely walk around the local lands.

One of the best hotels i've ever stayed in. Staff were great, room was great, food was superb, a lovely setting. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Highly recommend.
