Sounds amazing but we didn't go in as the tickets are a tad expensive at £22 each. Its a season ticket, but, why would you want to go back again in the same year ? Will perhaps take a day trip next year to the village, spend time walking around and do the mine.

Lovely little museum with a trip down an old mine. We'll informed tour guide. We'll worth looking out for.

Fascinating couple of hours walking around the workings and then visiting the museum. Didn't have time to experience the underground tour. Next time hopefully!

A fantastic visitor centre, staff are very knowledgeable on the history surrounding the village, mines and library. You can go down the mines and also try your hand at Gold panning! There is also old properties which they take you too to show you the way in which people used to live. The tea room is lovely with a good range of sweet and savoury goodies. The museum is set in a stunning location, I would highly recommend this attraction.

Went this morning. Group of 4. 11.25 group.Tried to book the tour plus panning. No panning. It's not ready.Ok can I hire/buy gear and go myself for a bit. No. You need a licence. Ok sell me a licence. No. No time. Ok I'll come back after the tour.Tour was very rushed guide seems very knowledgeable and to care about the subject matter but literally speed walked through the village leaving most of the group behind, same when leaving the mine. I speculate that the staff there are pressed to push the group's through and are not allowed enough time.Went back to find the gold panning area now stocked (they have bins of material near a nice little multi tubbed stand) tried again to book.Oh it's not until 2pm and other people have booked, it's first come first served. (We were first but whatever)I doubt anyone will read/care but I was fully prepared to buy 200+ pounds of gear and go myself (including) licence. Or pay for our group to have a swish at the little tourist feature (which again did look well done)Left disappointed and took our money elsewhere.

Excellent place for a visit for the whole family, educational and informative, very interesting, lovely staff and stunning surroundings, there's a restaurant /cafe or if you want there's the pub , or weather permitting picnic benches are available. Wheelchair access and dog friendly.

Great place for the whole family - loads to see and do (even on a wet snowy day like today!). Note: under 5s can't go down the mine and the railway is only open at weekends so that was the only disappointment. We'll visit again in better weather.
