Stayed here last night in a Family room, bedding dirty. No breakfast available had to go to Harbour House for breakfast Stayed here a couple of times in the past.. much better. Not very nice experience, poor room. Seems a bit run down. Will not be re booking anytime soon.

Very cold on entry, cold showers, no one to give oue complaints too. Bathroom too small for a adult, and grubby in places, Room not attended to , had to ask for more coffee tea, etc.

I booked The Waterfront well in advance for myself and my elderly Mum. I had organised a taxi to pick us up and on chatting to the lovely driver he told me there had been a fire and The Waterfront that we had booked was closed.I thought he was joking but it was true. On arrival the notice on the door said go to the Harbour House.. not a very good start. I think out of decency I should have been informed about the fire and for me to make the decision To go or not not just assume it would be ok. The harbour House was ok but the room we were In was very noisy with the pipes every time someone run the water. 70s style decor in the room but a nice clean bed. The windows in the whole place could do with a weekly wash as you couldn’t see the sea view for the dirt. Food was good and staff were nice that was a bonus. Too old fashioned I wouldn’t return. LCk of respect for the client to keep them informed about the situation and let them decide if they still want to go.

No reception staff just a note to go to hotel down street , no house keeping if you need a towel or anything head out in the rain to hotel down the street , forget about the fancy restaurant on the website no you guessed wrap up well and head down the street apparently there was a fire a month before but hotel didn't bother to amend website or notify guests there was no staff or facilities at waterfront both breakfast and dinner was tasty enough but every day and every meal we had chipped and cracked crockery and twice given cups with tides marks , waiting staff a mixed bag jeans trainers no socks , WiFi at least available at the harbour hotel where we ate but not available in waterfront hotel I've stayed in hundreds of hotels over last 40 plus years in all price brackets this is by far the worst I have ever encountered Portpatrick is a beautiful place but avoid staying in the Harbour or waterfront hotels I went to the Portpatrick Hotel on the cliff and payed the same money for a much better room and proper hotel facilities, rather than rant about the room see my pics for my legs jammed under sink trying to use loo etc I would have been better sleeping in the car and saving £190 which is what we would have done if it wasn't pre paid

A lovely place to stay. Staff so welcoming and friendly especially Nichol and Maggie. The room was cosy and bed soooo comfy. We dined on the evening ....fabulous food. Absolutely gorgeous. Breakfast lovely too......nothing too much trouble . We will most definitely be coming back to stay here.

Stayed for 1 night. As has already been said some rooms are in the outbuildings at the back, not a problem, room was exceptionally clean and adequate. Couple of points to make that my bathroom was separate from my room, just down the stairs with my own key, not a big problem for me but.. and there's a shared toilet up the stairs. Also when I arrived I was told I had to be allocated a time for breakfast, latest I could have was 8.30 so I skipped as I don't like earlys! Bit disappointed with that but otherwise it was decent enough for 1 night. The staff were very polite and helpful.

This hotel is clean all over, the food we had on Saturday night was good but unfortunately at breakfast the fried eggs were half cooked but main thing is they have a bunch of kids looking after the hotel, and as for the rooms go never mind swing a cat, try a mouse.

Stayed for two nights last week, on a short break with my partner. Cannot fault the staff, or the food, as both were excellent. However, we were a bit disappointed to be put into a cottage at the back of the hotel, this was not what it stated when we booked. On my booking it stated we had a room with a desk and chair, which we definitely did not. The room was a bit tired, with very old windows. The blinds did not shut, luckily there were curtains. As for the size of the "bathroom", this was basically a cupboard, with a very small shower. It was almost impossible to bend down in the shower without smacking a body part of either the wall or the shower door. There was also a shelf above the sink, which meant you had to limbo under the shelf to rinse your mouth out, and a great deal of dexterity was required to go to the loo!! Such a shame, would have been an extremely enjoyable stay otherwise. The location is excellent, right in the heart of the village.
