Abbey Bistro in Scottish Borders

This is now called the Istanbul takeaway. It serves fish and chips, pizza, kebabs etc. We were visiting Melrose and asked a local to recommend a takeaway and we were sent here. Cooked fresh to order, this was the best fish supper I had eaten in a long time. Delicious!

I personally won't be back, one of the king ribs we got still had raw batter and was cold in the middle as it hadn't cooked properly. If we hadn't drove away before we started to eat it I would have took it back.The service its self was chaotic, as one poor girl was trying her hardest to sort all the delivery orders and shop ones while a guy ran in chaos about her. As we were waiting they said it would be a while since they would cook one fresh, but in there hurry to complete orders they didnt check that it was cooked thoroughly.The chips seemed ok, but left your mouth and hands coated in a film of grease.I'd not recommend this place, if I could award no stars I would have.

Almost 2 hours to deliver. Cold, burger was rock hard, chips were soggy. At least the juice was warm. Messaged them to discuss no reply. Contacted scoffable website to ask for refund. The food was "freah and acceptable" apparently.

Chips and battered mushrooms were greasy as there was a wee pool of grease in the mushroom box. Partner had baked potato it was rock hard inside then found a hair in beside the filling she had. To top it all off i was sick afterwards having this. Will not be back ever even if it was last chippie left in borders.

I can't say this was a good experience at all, I didn't receive all of the items that were supposed to be in my snack box, all super-greasy and not very nice, it's actually the 2nd time I've been, thought maybe I'd give them another go, but wasn't a good idea.

By far the WORST meal ive ordered from any takeaway ...if I could click no stars I would!!! Was very DISGUSTED with the way one staff member spoke to me when I called to make a complaint regarding the delivery time ( which was 2 hours 20 mins btw) and the fact that the fries portion was ridiculously small for the price and were extremely soggy and my daughter's kids meal looked as though the chips had been refried 3 times and left to sit for hours ... seriously!! They were dark brown and were also soggy and tasted foul. but most of all I was more shocked at the way the staff handled the complaint. The woman was extremely rude and spoke to me as if I was a 5year old child on the phone. She interrupted me while explaing why I was disappointed and began to raise her voice telling me that she wasn't listening to my cheek. Which I can assure you was no wear near cheek... then told me not to order from there again and hung up. I think this is totally shocking considering this is meant to be a takeaway business and should to be able to hear where there going wrong based on customer reviews to try make it better .. I'll also be advising my family and friends to not be wasting their money or time ordering from this rude staffed takeaway again

Food was disgusting and cold, ordered a chippy pizza, and was instead given a burnt tomato base with a sprinkle of cheese and a handful of undercooked chips, with overly vinegary brown sauce. All that could be tasted was cold tomato puree, majorly disappointed. Second order was a chicken bacon and cheese wrap which is certainly not worth the price for the amount of money you charge! Tasted okay, far too much tin foil wrapping, looks rather big but once open it's not worth the price.

If you can think off it, they will most probably make it. I have never seen a take away with such a big menu. The food was okay as well. A good combination with a night at the Ship Inn

Great takeaway that has a sit in area for an extra £2 for table but worth it . Thought the decor was really nice and the service was really nice aswell . I got the kebab with hot sauce and garlic sauce , portion size was excellent as was the other portion sizes that my wife and kids got . Really good flavour from kebab meat and chips were cooked to crispy style .Really friendly staff that make's eating out alot more enjoyable no matter were you go 😉 . Great wee takeaway in melrose and will be back when in area . 👍👍👍👍

Didn't arrive on time, Called to find out what was happening and said it was on its way, still didn't arrive so I called again and they said it had been delivered so they said they would send a new fresh pizza delivery with free chips and juice. After a grand total of 3 hours of waiting the delivery turned up cold ( originally the pizza which never turned up in the first place) and no chips or juice. Avoid this place it's a shambles.
