Erdol's Fish Bar in Scottish Borders

Old dry fish with chewy batter, stale chips and scampi that honestly could have been anything. No idea how this place gets good reviews.

Suspiciously got ill after eating a manky old piece of fish from this place. Not recommended.

Visiting Hawick for the common riding We went to this place for fish and chips for tea They were awful awful awful The chips were cold and the fish chewy and wafer thin and cold too They cost £16 What a waste of money

I was visiting Hawick and decided to use this eatery (Not exactly a fish & chip shop) a general takeaway business, anyhow I required 2 fish suppers and there was only 1 fish in the cabinet which when I asked it had been there for about 30 mins so I asked if I could get 2 fresh fish staff informed me that it would be about 15 mins so I waited eventually after around 20 mins or so I got my fish 1 single and a fish supper got them back to where I was staying only to find that the frehly fried fish was lovely but the chips were shocking as if they had been there from lunch time and just terrible quality and the dregs of the frier. I did phone them and complained and they did offer to fry me some fresh ones but it was too late by then. Very disappointing and it would have been so easy to have given me fresh chips as I waited long enough. Then I went in the next night and they remembered me so I asked if I could get a fresh fry of chips which they did I waited long enough for them and would you believe it they tried to charge me £2.40 for them!! Needless to say that did not happen so remember to check your chips before you leave the shop.

Poor quality, very greasy and chips tasted like old oil.Wouldn't describe this place as a fish bar considering they sell a host of other things that are none chip shop items.Staff were also quite rude and barely said a word. I was ignored for the first 5 minutes by the guy who was sweeping up, with nobody else behind the counter at first and I was made to feel like I was really putting them out (we only ordered 2 chip rolls and a portion of chips)Won't be returning in a hurry!

I asked already 2 times to pot extra tomato-based and they never put nothing inI never go a heated from here

Would not recommend. Charged over £9 for one portion of chips and curry sauce. Did not apologise for the mistake in price and still tried to overcharge despite the price being on the board for £2. Extremely rude and reluctant to give money back. Wrong order was also given and food was not nice.

Amazing food that's for sure but without any disrespect the language barrier with the man on the phone ia really huge, I understand there's a language barrier but it's both unfair on the man taking orders and the customer

When I read the other reviews thing must have changed over the months. Most horible fish and chips in the whole UK. Most terrible chips, dripping fat from them, and dry Old battered hadock. Don't go there again.

Honestly cant stress how good this place is. Ive since moved away and nothing comes close to erdols pizza. Dont know what the secret is but i have dreams about having them again. I mean, pepperoni under the chrese, enough said. I also rate the chips, and delivery has always been swift x
