George & Abbotsford Hotel in Scottish Borders

Didn't actually stay here, just had food in the restaurant yesterday evening. Nice cosy place with fabulous food and fantastic service from the kitchen and waitering staff, particularly from the lady who served us. Unfortunately we didn't get her name but she is a credit to the business.

Called here for a drink Sunday afternoon. The place was quiet but the service was friendly. Large enclosed outside seating to the rear.

Lovely place, stayed here on a bike trip and got a room in the evening without prior reservation, uncomplicated and friendly. Very good pub food and a big breakfast selection, too.

First visit haven walked past on many occasions. Popped in for drinks and meal. Food was excellent and great value for money. Staff friendly and attentive.

Called in for a warm as it' freezing today had lovely cappuccino and a prawn sandwich wife had a cheese savory no complaints dog friendly will visit again 😀

The staff were helpful and cheerful. Bed, bed linen and towels very clean Room clean but carpet needs cleaning. No vegan options on the menu. We will stay again.

Mould all over the bathroom and unhoovered carpet covered in dirt and other guest hair. bizarre decor - see pic. No internet or hair dryer. It’s cheap (booked out by groups) but at the very least should be clean and hygienic.

Rooms a little dated need upgrading. Baths old and high not good for older people.very slippy no bath mats. Food excellent bar very nice staff friendly problem being the rooms . Happy to go for food and drink but won't say here again.

I can't speak highly enough of the staff at the George and Abbotsford. September 11th was our Golden Wedding Anniversary and we had booked rooms for 19 guests and also booked dinner for 13 of us on the 10th. Our actual anniversary dinner was going to take place in another hotel, because that's where we held our wedding reception 50 years ago. However, with 10 days to go, this hotel cancelled our event. I phoned the G & A in a panic and spoke with Kayleigh. As soon as she heard of our plight, she sprang into action and arranged the most amazing dinner party for us. The function room was set up and decorated for us, welcome drink served and food was delicious. We can't thank Graham, Dawn and Kayleigh enough for rescuing this most special of occasions for us. They went above and beyond, no doubt about it. The hotel has a friendly feel, all staff working so hard to make you feel welcome. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel has a nice outside space too and excellent car parking.
