The Contented Sole in Scottish Borders

Fantastic fresh fish and chips. Friendly staff. Amazing prices. First visit to Eyemouth in a few years and quality and value here still brilliant. Will definitely be back during our visit.

Friendly service, and absolutely delicious, good value food. I very much appreciated being able to order a Light Bite which was just right- no food wasted at all! I was a most contented soul after my visit.

As a vegan, unfortunately they didn't have the one thing l was looking forward to which was a curry. They waited until we had taken our order and then came back to tell us. We had also ordered drinks otherwise we may have gone elsewhere. I had not been looking forward to the second and third choice meals. As it turned out the second choice meal was very strange as it was rice and chips and mini popodums. To my mind why would you have rice and chips and popodums together. Just stodge and more stodge. It was also very bland and quite overcooked. The mini popodums were extremely greasy and not cooked.

On a working visit to the area £8I had a Fish and chip supper here. The fish was very fresh. The locals were friendly and the barmaid Lois was attentive to her customers needs. £8.95 for the meal and £3.10 for a pint of a local bitter which was very smooth. Better than what is available in my home town 300 miles away.

What a great pub, good food, dog friendly and very friendly and helpful staff. I would recommend that you booked at busy times as its very popular.. Lovely location too.

I was only here for a short time and it was dark. Nice food served reasonably quickly. Very friendly staff. Served by one and payment to another. Both members of staff were attentive.

Very nice food, Jambalaya vegan food was tasty. Others had the local haddock as part of fish and chips, loved it. East Coast IPA on tap was well kept. Would go back!

A friendly pub and restaurant on the beautiful eyemouth harbourExcellent food and friendly polite service with a good selection of beers, largers and spirits all reasonably priced.The contented sole is dog friendly in the down stairs bar areas but not in the restaurant.
