The Ship Inn in Scottish Borders

We called for Sunday lunch yesterday and received a warm welcome.Ordered two roast beef dinners which were very tasty indeed, although I could have polished off a little more (I do have a large appetite) we were informed upon ordering that the potato man hadn't delivered so there was no mash.Good pint of Amstel served by wonderful friendly people.The proprietor went out of his way to look after us and our dog.Prices are very reasonable and we have to say that this establishment was by far the best in Melrose in every respect (we tried them all). So much so that we returned again the day after for lunch and had the chicken curry and a wrap.Amazing garden to the rear.Highly recommended.

For a start dog friendly that's a winner already. Staff were excellent and the manager was a great laugh. Went back the following night for food which was spot on with plenty of choice on the menu. Will go back when we visit Melrose again.

Top class bar with a nice atmosphere. We called in for a bar snack Sunday week ago & were very impressed with the service & the food. 5 stars from us. Will be back.

Amazing find, cracking pub, good selection of beers, wines and spirits, friendly and helpful staff and the food was great, good selection so should he something to suit all tastes.

Absolutely fabulous, lovely staff/owners and the food was amazing. Portions were on the large side which was great as the doggy bag tasted just as fantastic the next day. Very dog friendly.

Absolutely fantastic service from Rob and his team. Super dog friendly with chicken for Flash the Lurcher any time we went in. Staff were magnificent and Flash gave it a big “high 5” as the attention he got was brilliant. Discount given for Caravan site visitors was also well received. Got off to a bad start when, with an incident with a really rude bar maid. But this changed when we were seated by the waiting staff, they were excellent and very polite. The chefs were awesome too and served a great portion of fish and chips. In the end had an enjoyable experience, recommend the outdoor area.

We visited this lovely pub /restaurant last week and what a fabulous place this is .every member of staff were so lovely and friendly and we took our little doggy daisy and what a welcome she got it was great to relax and enjoy a meal in beautiful surroundings knowing that our daisy was welcome. She was brought a fresh bowl of water and little doggie treat biscuits and was cuddled and loved by everyone....the manager Rob should be on stage ,what a fabulous personality, he made us laugh and nothing was to much trouble and the food was cooked to perfection .thank you to all staff keep up the good work 👏 and hope to see you all again your garden area is perfect and we could not have wished for a better evening ,you all made it so special. Thank you .xxxx
