The Tontine in Scottish Borders

Beautiful hotel, amazing food. Staff are so friendly and accommodating. The hotel was perfectly situated on Peebles High Street, which meant it was easy to get to plenty of shops and restaurants. We will definitely be back!

Be careful with this hotel and their practices. I had a voucher that I took on good faith instead of a refund due to the pandemic that they did not honour. Will never be back

The Tontine is an excellent hotel for a variety of reasons : all round high standards...great staff ( so helpful, mannerly and polite).... food quality....location in Peebles. For all these reasons, I’d happily return here any time. Would have no doubts in recommending The Tontine to anyone.

We had an absolutely fantastic two night stay at the Tontine (Mar 2022). The family room we had was spacious and the beds were really comfortable. The breakfast was amazing and the bar and lounge were great places to socialise. All the staff were very helpful and friendly.All in all, I'd be back there like a shot, I just cannot fault it.

Rooms were nice, though not great views but accept that can’t always get that. Two members of staff particularly pleasant and helpful were the receptionist and one of the ladies in the dining room who gave us a leaflet about the Great Scottish Tapestry which we enjoyed a visit to.

Great stay, superb food, very friendly and helpful staff. Covid measures still in place with evidence of cleanliness easily seen. All requests dealt with efficiently, the fact the owners and family are hands on gives the hotel a homely feel. Some rooms on the back of the hotel have uninterrupted views of the Tweed, definitely worth upgrading for. These rooms are serviced by a small lift and most have walk in showers. A most enjoyable stay.

Very comfortable stay in this lovely historic hotel in the middle of Peebles. Good food and excellent service. Any requests for additional eg, towels, toilet rolls etc, speedily and cheerfully dealt with as there is no room servicing due to Covid restrictions.

Really nice hotel loads of staff nice decor , sat with a coffee in the lounge then ordered a couple of dishes from the extensive menu . Lovely food in nice surroundings well worth a visit

I had a very comfortable 2 might stay while cycle touring the Borders. It's a traditional style hotel which does most things very well. Restaurant menu nicely varied and breakfasts were excellent for the needy cyclist. Staff really helpful and cycle storage catered for in a very secure outbuilding. Costs very reasonable.
