The hotel is unique and a bit out of place. But nearby towns and sights are easy to reach. I would not rate it 4☆ but a very good 3☆ hotel. Meals were nice 3specially the starters but the main are really a big load of foot. Would have wished smaller portions to have space for dessert. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Very friendly people running the place. Very recommendable if you would like to do sightseeing by car.

Loveky old coach house hotel. Staff so friendly and the food was superb. Would recommend this place highly.

Very pleasant friendly staff but a very dull menu. In an area where there are lots of lovely suppliers of meat, game and fish the menu doesn't showcase this

Great service. Stayed in the holiday cottage for a week. Really nice and tidy cottage with a shower room, two bedrooms, kitchen, living room and even a laundry room. Has an issue with the heating which was resolved within an hour. Great hosts and nice food. Highly recommend

While staying at a local Airbnb, we wandered along to the Wheatsheaf for dinner and had a really good time. The Wheatsheaf makes a very good first impression: very peaceful, cosy and traditional decor, the sort of old-fashioned village pub that hasn’t succumbed to any modern trend. The first thing to be aware of is that the images on google maps make this seem like a very exclusive restaurant, whereas actually it’s very welcoming and inclusive - good British comfort food rather than anything pretentious. We’d been told that the quality can be hit and miss. I can see what the person meant, as a few meals we could see from others’ tables looked a little bit sad. Luckily we chose well: my other half had a lovely bit of salmon and I had a delicious fish and chips. They also do a good pint - the Staropramen was excellent. The service was absolutely superb - attentive and friendly. They let us sit in very comfortable fireside chairs while we waited on our table, and move back to these when we were done eating.Overall, I’ve taken a star off for value for money, as we did feel it was more expensive than necessary. If I’m ever back in Swinton I’ll be heading straight to the Wheatsheaf!
