I been here quite a few times for Sunday lunchtime carvery, and to be honest you would have to go a long way to beat plenty of choices and fantastic pubs to choose from, well worth a visit, book early. xxx

Absolutely fantastic weekend spent with family at this great pub in great location. My third visit to the Morlan and it has improved every time. The staff from managers to bar and waiting staff are all very polite, hard working and friendly. Covid rules are followed to best of their ability alcohol gel in all areas, one way in one way out. People also need to take responsibility for their actions during these times, its not just the hosts problem. Rooms are very bright, comfortable, spacious and clean. Has the bonus of small fridge and microwave along with tea and coffee facilities. Great private access and outside tables for guests to use in good weather. Locals are also friendly and welcoming, invited my partner and my father to join them in a pool tournament last night which they had great fun, good laugh and good atmosphere. Food is great well priced excellent value for money.Carnt wait to go back. Thankyou Marc, Danni,Jeff and all the staff we met over the weekend you all are doing amazing in difficult circumstances. Thankyou for a great weekend xxx

I have been trying to get a refund due to family illness, I am no longer able to go. So have requested my refund in plenty of time 3 weeks before the booking 6 attempts of trying to receive a reply. I have now raised a dispute with my bank who will take over applying for the refund after 15 days after the transaction. How rude to ignore customers now you have their money.

We were let down by very rude and unhelpful staff at the Chinese takeout just down the road, only to find this little gem of a place instead! Tasty food, good value and excellent service - would certainly recommend this restaurant highly.

We booked online and as it was a dog friendly hotel we emailed them to let them know we had two pugs which we would be coming with us. We had an email back saying it was fine, but the dog friendly room was booked, however, we could still have the room but there would be a £20.00 fee to clean the room after we left, payable in cash upon arrival. When we arrived at the "Hotel", there were a quite lot of people out the front drinking, it was very noisy. The interior was quiet full too, and social distancing rules were not being adhered to. This concerned me as I have been shielding since lockdown started due to my health. My wife checked us in and paid the £20.00 and had no receipt from them for the money, obviously tax free. We were given a key to the room which was up very steep steps. The room was quite large and it looked OK. After a while, my wife was looking for any welcome pack in the room that tells you what there is in the area etc. However, when my wife opened the chest of draws the top draw was full of sweet wrappers, so obviously the last people to use the room, room 2, before us were tramps who need a lesson in cleanliness. My wife opened the draw below an in there was what appeared to be something brown similar to melted chocolate? We have no idea what it was! After finding this, I looked around the room further only to find orange pips and screwed up paper on the floor too.We were going out to find a place to eat and we were going to let them know about the room but as the bar was so busy and social distancing was not being observed, we decided to leave it untill we checked out. We found a lovely pub, The Ship, just a short walk away, dog friendly, and observing social distancing, the food was wonderful and the staff were so friendly. The next morning arrived and we went to check out but the place was locked up and no one was about.I would have thought that in the current climate cleaning a room thoroughly before guests arrived was most important, we are told corona virus can live on surfaces for up to 72 hours but it was obvious to us this room was not cleaned thoroughly otherwise the draws would have been cleaned out.My wife emailed the hotel to let them know it was not us that had left the draws in the state they were in but a previous customer. The reply she got back was poor to say the least, she was told they have " high standards of cleaning and we do have a new cleaner maybe no longer ", surely if the cleaner was new, work done by the cleaner would have been checked upon completion and it is not the cleaners fault they missed the mess but their supervisors if there ever was a"new cleaner". I would not recommend using this hotel to anyone, especially in the current climate.

Had the best Sunday carvery we'd eaten for a long time. Us and our dog were well looked after by the staff who worked hard with all these strange new rules thrown at the hospitality industry.

If I could give it less than 1 star I would.Covid rules entirely ignored, table service or go to the bar, or walk around with your food from the carvery. Definitely won't be returning

I'vve visited The Morlan twice in recent weeks:First visit was to stay overnight - my room was very nice indeed, large, very comfortable, clean and well appointed. The bar and restaurant were both great and the locals made me feel very welcome - making me want to go back - so....My second visit was for the Sunday Carvery yesterday which I'd booked in advance for myself, my partner and 3 friends. The food was beautiful - best carvery I've ever had. Between the 5 of us we tried everything on offer, including the starters and desserts. All 5 of us loved the food so much that we willl be going back for the carvery regularly - excellent food, excellent value for money and a wonderful friendly atmosphere with a great welcome from the locals, the all the staff. My partner and I have now booked to stay overnight in late September for her birthday - but the whole group of us will be back for the Sunday Carvery well before then - treat your self, visit The Morlan.
