Rhyd-Y-Pennau Inn in Ceredigion

Great pub, fantastic food...we were greeted by the waitress and made to feel very welcome. Had gammon from the main menu which was delicious. The waitress and gent behind the bar were both lovely... e sat in the lower bar, but there's also another larger dining area from the car park side, a great room with pool table and darts, little play area outside, garden seating, dog friendly....enjoyed our first visit and will certainly be back.

We stopped for dinner here whilst having a weekend away locally. We were a part of 4 adults and 3 children and the service was excellent! Staff couldn’t do enough for us, incredibly kind to the children, food was reasonably priced and delicious. Definitely recommend.

Everywhere else was full so we tried the Rhydypennau. Was told to be there at 1pm but would have to eat in the bar. Not a problem.Got there at 1pm seated immediately but then 20 mins before we could order drinks. Lucky, as we were just about to walk out. But then another 15 mins before we could go to carvery.Food wise - average. All the meat seems to be pre-booked and pre-sliced. No joints of meat carved in front of you. It tasted ok, but not more than that.Veggies - not a bad selection, but all over cooked. A few choices had run out.Sauces - all run out except for gravy. But the gravy was good. Very good!Service - all the staff were very friendly and nice, but it felt more like a cafe. And service was far too slow.Go again? Yes, but not our first choice. The standard of food was average. There are much better places that charge the same price and with much quicker service. We would rather go to them.

Went there sunday for a roast dinner and can not complain food was fantastic and the staff where extremely friendly. If i am ever in the area again i will be back for a meal

Myself & group of friends stayed locally for a few days. We wanted to get some food on the day of arrival and this place was within a walking distance. We never made it inside. We were challenged straight away about not wearing masks. There were a few problems about this:1. It was the day when Welsh announcement about compulsory indoor masks, we never saw it due to travel time, unpacking, etc. Ladies were quite rude from the get go and never explained this.2. You aren't supposed to challenge anyone about their masks.We left our masks in the house and wearing masks in restaurants in England was not compulsory at the time. This should have been explained by the ladies who have "greeted" us.I have explained to the ladies that I am exempt due to my medical condition. They asked me for proof. What sort of proof? Lanyard. Anyone can print one out, and according to rules - I am not required to wear one. I don't feel comfortable advertising to everyone that I have a medical condition, this is a very delicate subject. According to law - this falls under discrimination due medical condition. The rules and laws are clear, how can you prove to servers in the restaurant that you have a medical condition that makes wearing a mask difficult? Are they qualified to assess my condition?Absolutely terrible treatment, rude, unpleasant. I wonder if it also had something to do with our foreign accents but I can't say for sure.Really, really sad and disappointing start of our holiday in this beautiful, scenic area.

Service was excellent, staff were bubble and really helpful, however the food was well below par for the price they're charging, ordered steaks med/rare they were pink, but dry. We've never had a pink steak that was dry before, this made it unenjoyable. All the other items ordered we're just frozen and reheated, £16 for a 8oz rump steak is way more than it was worth, we didn't have dessert because we didn't think £6 for Belgian waffle and a scoop of ice cream was worth it. This is nothing more than cheap bar food at a high price!

Owner and staff are so friendly, helped accommodate us a few times whilst on a week's break away.Food is very very nice and makes it even better its a walk away from where we were staying! Of course we found a local pub, top priority and makes it even better that this one was as welcoming as it was!Thanks so much for making us at home, if we return we will definitely be back! 😊

We stopped for a spot of lunch - the service was brilliant!!! A lovely older lady couldn't do enough for us. We had a children's burger meal and an adults burger they were lovely. Great priced food will most definitely be back.

Pictures can be desieving. From the picture my meal looked good but the peas were like bullets and the batter on the fish was crispy on the top but wet and soggy on the bottom. I told the barmaid who said she would tell the chef and that was the last I saw of her. When I went to pay I repeated my thoughts to any barmaid who just said she was sorry about it. When we went to the car the owner came to talk to me. He said mine was the first complaint about the fish but agreed the batter on my plate was not good. He also offered a discount on any meal we had in the future. Unfortunately I will not be returning and told him so.

this is the second time weve been the staff are amazing they cant do enough and the food is really really nice and are well worth the money the gammon and steaks are especially good
