The Starling Cloud in Ceredigion

Worst experience this evening, staff were lovely but the food was horrible, tiny portions for the price and the gammons were luke warm/cold and absolutely full of grease it was dripping off it as you picked it up with a fork, came here when it first started and the food was delicious then but now it's completely gone down hill, thought we'd give it another chance after the last time we received a soggy bun when ordering a cheeseburger when stated as a toasted bun, and to be seated next to a place full of dust is disgusting, not a very clean place to be honest, even the forks had food stains on them, will not be returning as you can see in the photos of how disgusting it really is.

Hotel is great, staff who checked me in were fab, the rooms are decent sized. A few minor issues like main bathroom light didn't work and you can hear people walking around their rooms.The biggest negative was the pub. On check in we were told we didn't need to book a table. 3 hours later and you couldn't move in the place. So always book a table!

Absolutely awful, wrong drink order given and looked like it had been thrown together, complete with whole strawberry (for £9) 🙃 fork with lipstick marks on it, all food brought out to us after nearly an hour was tepid and floppy, "no soft drinks" as their cooler was down. Completely inedible food. Manager tried to defend by stating lack of staff and that food doesn't leave kitchen until its 85 degrees. The food was DEFINITELY not 85 degrees - the plates were hot but the food was cold! Riddle me that one! He voided the meal and we left without even eating. Really really disappointed.

Walked in without booking beforehand. Nothing special, prices were reasonable and food was standard. Clean and friendly staff. Nice place for a last minute roast dinner.

Came in for a Sunday Roast and was definitely not dissapointed. The waiters were very friendly, and the food, namely the rotisserie chicken, was very well done. The prices are reasonable, and the place was clean and welcoming. Nice place for a quiet Sunday roast. Would recommend to anybody already in the area.

Half the menu wasn’t available for at least 45 minutes as they had only just turned on the rotisserie, that limited us on choice. We received our starter of hallumi fries two portions one of which was half the size the other. When our main meals arrived, the burger was burned and flipped over to try and hide the fact. It tasted burned and we had to send it back. The steak, which was asked medium rare, was over done and burned in the corners. The burger was sent back and did not arrive until the rest of the party had finished eating. The person who had the burger (it was his birthday meal) had to go back to work so wasn’t able to have it. Our booking was at 6pm the burger came back at 7.45pm. We also never received a coffee that had been ordered. We have always chosen Starling Cloud in the past as they have been clean, helpful and good service. I will not be returning.

Room 6 on the ground floor at rear of building was a modern room clean and quiet at night, it had a king size bed with a comfy mattress and bedding, Air con, hairdryer, tea coffee making facilities with biscuits, USB sockets next to bed, free WiFi and parking, located in a sperate building to the pub which serves good food at very reasonable prices. Good choice on menu with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Breakfast is good too. Staff were great. Exceptional for the money. I paid £50 for the double room only for a Friday night.

One of the worst experiences I’ve had in a restaurant - we won’t be returning. There was a large group of us for a family birthday and it took 45 minutes for staff to take our drinks order, even though it wasn’t busy. After our mains, we had to go to the bar to order a dessert because no staff came to ask if we wanted to order, even though COVID rules stated table service only. When dessert came, we had to clear our empty mains plates and put them on another table ourselves because staff didn’t think it was necessary to clear the table first. The desserts were very underwhelming. I took our son outside to play on the playground but it was surrounded by dog s**t so I had to bring him back inside.

Really nice place to sit and eat. Ended up having a dessert whilst here. The chocolate cake with melted chocolate, not normally a chocolate pudding fan as can find them rich but this pudding was amazing, just right for a sweet tooth.

WARNING!!! I'm sure that any 5 stars they are given must be fake, because each time I go, expecting a different result, I just get all disappointed... I've been a handful of times over the past 9 years with friends and family... I will definitely not be returning again. If I could give 'no stars... I would. Unbelievably bad service, no enquiries as to the satisfaction of our (terrible) meal... and if they just ignore you, then they don't have to deal with any problem customers.Cold coffee, that took ten minutes to come, the food is unedible... And the customer service is appalling, eg, cutlery took 5 minutes to come after the food. The vegan menu consists of 2 dishes, (REALLY BAD) vegan curry or A (none existent) vegetable pie. The mash is instant smash, the pastry was hard to cut, no fresh veg only frozen, along with frozen (mushy) scampi... Shame, considering that we live by the sea. And to be frankly honest I'm really surprised their still in business.
