Had the burger which was essentially a flavourless piece of ground mince put between a brioche bun which was soggy and disintegrated in my hands. My friends had the £30 steak which was average at best and the £4 blue cheese sauce tasted like mayonnaise. Our other friends food and all of the starters didn’t turn up at all. Pretty disappointing food and service!

Friendly staff and a lovely looking pub very popular they have a large outdoor seating area which was lovely.

Came here as a group of six and we were all under-whelmed. Every item on the menu was extremely over-priced (and we’re used to high London prices). The side salad was more a garnish, the cheese burger came with plastic cheese and the veggie mousakka was tasty but mainly comprised large lumps of potato. The steak was very mediocre, with frozen chips and just shy of £30. Then a sauce was £4.50 extra!!!They’re clearly geared towards tourists who may pay inflated prices, and who wouldn’t come back any way. No need to strive for repeat business here, just charge the maximum price for the most profit!

Managed to get a walk in on mothering Sunday with my son. Lovely welcome and all staff friendly and attentive. The Sunday beef roast with all the trimmings is the best I've ever had, will certainly be going back when I travel that way again

My favourite thing about the Blue Boar is the atmosphere here. The guys working the bar and delivering the food out are all cheerful and lovely, and who can blame them? The pub's awesome and the decor is old timey without seeming stiff or artificial. Lovely building in the centre of town, too.

Beautiful pub and the food was outstanding. Staff were smiley and friendly. Can't wait to go back. You have to try the burger x

Pop into Hay on Wye after hiking in the mountains near by. Tried this pub for food. Open fires, real ale and great honest pub grub. Really enjoyed my visit.

This was recommended to us by a local and we weren’t disappointed. It’s got a nice blend of oldy Worldy pub vibe with more modern outside marquee area...We arrived just before dinner but were able to order after 1730. We were greeted and helped quickly. Our drinks orders were taken at the table and delivered but we found it easier and quicker to order the rest of our requests at the bar which was fine. The food which was slightly on the dear side came out pretty promptly and I wasn’t sure what to expect. We ordered the burgers on the menu and to be honest I was really impressed. It was one of the most tasty burgers I have had in a while and was delicious. It was worth the money.Overall a decent pub vibe in the lovely setting of Hay on Wye.

A lovely laid back pub. Clean and tidy. Needed to sign in with details due to covid 19, sanitizers to use, so all good on that count. Excellent service from the bar staff, friendly, helpful and professional.Cannot comment on food, as we didn't have any, but a table over did, and they seemed happy.

Very nice and warm welcoming pub. Staff is kind and the food is just great, we had an halluomi burger and I totally appreciated it, my friends tried muscles and the Tuscany selection of beans, all excellent. Also the drinks won't disappoint you, I personally had two glasses of Pinot Nero and it was delicious. Truly recommended.
