Popped in for a carvery today, the food was delicious and the service was very good. It appeared that family were all involved, which was great. Would definitely recommend it !

Passed this hotel many times over the years, and today drove 26 miles for Sunday lunch. Excellent Carvery and service to match.

Lovely fresh car very Sunday roast here. The veg is in small dishes, so regularly refreshed. Three choices of meat, with Yorkshire pudding and a sausage as well. Delicious 😋

Perfect - great setting, run by a lovely and warm welcoming family and cosey whilst being clean as a pin......food smelt amazing and understand why fully booked, stayed for drinks and nibbles but will return with table booked in advance. Highly recommended.

Last minute booking and one of a few hotel rooms available in Wales on the day. We landed lucky and the room and hotel were superb!!! We were checked in quickly and shown to our room - a really nice touch. We were allocated Room 1 with a free standing bath, which was a lovely touch. The bed was super comfy and we slept really well. The breakfast was one of the best ever and we will return if we are in the area again and try the restaurant.

The staff were very friendly & accommodating and the room was clean, but unfortunately the food (dinner) was average and there was no hot water. We were told to wait 40mins for it to heat, which we did and when it did it only lasted a minute before getting cool. A bit of a shame as we had paid extra to get the hot tub & had been hiking all day so was really looking forward to having a bath, however we couldn’t even get a warm shower!

Stopped "On Spec", & had a Sunday Carvery , & the first time l have given a 5* rating to any Pub/resaurant in the last couple of years. The hospitality was very welcoming , & the meal was the best carvery for a long time because it ticked all the boxes , cooked to perfection , tasty , & value for money.

We were staying nearby and visited for a drink and possibly food. The lady who serves us was disinterested and rude. When we returned a pint to the bar as it didn't taste right, she was off hand. I understand that the first beer off can taste a bit dodgy, but didn't expect the attitude I was given. We found the drinks very pricey - pint of carling and a small white wine and soda came in at just over £9. The first pint of soda water I bought cost £1.80, the second £1?? All in all, a beautiful pub with great undercover outdoor seating, which could be amazing if only the staff were a little more friendly.

Bit of a weird welcome. Despite there only being one out of around twenty outdoor tables occupied (and the others weren't reserved), we were told we would need to book a table, even if we were to book over the phone then turn up five minutes later. Very odd. Maybe something to do with Welsh Covid rules at the time, I don't know, but if so it perhaps could have been explained better. They also need to update the website firstly to reflect this, but also to reflect opening times. The website states food served all day, but we had to order immediately as the kitchen was closing. We'd walked a fair way so were quite lucky in the timing it turned out, but I wouldn't have been impressed if we couldn't order food.Anyway, after the initial hiccups I was impressed. It's a very classic pub menu. I was expecting decent food but it exceeded expectations. The steak and ale pie was delicious, with a thick herby sauce and plenty of tender steak. It was a 'stew with lid' style rather than a pie which I usually find upsetting but it was good enough that I wasn't disappointed. The homemade chicken curry was also suprisingly delicious!Had a couple of drinks, no one came to take an order for a third so we left. 5 stars for the chef, 2 stars for the slightly weird service, but I'd definitely stop by again if passing.

We had a meal here on the new 50% discount offer. Absolutely perfect. Our food was delivered hot, with perfect size portions. The Rump steak was cooked to perfection. Service was fantastic and puddings where yummy. Would definitely go back and recommend.
