Llangoed is truly exceptional! We have had a marvellous stay. The staff were incredible. Yes there is a small team but this meant for a very personable service. The room was clean with beautiful views. The pace is much slower which helps guests to unwind. But perhaps not best suited for impatient guests. The food was delectable. I’ve never been to such a lovely smelling hotel! The wine is pricey. The £17 per glass however is for a goldfish bowl 250 ml sized glass. Regrettably the “by the glass” Romanian Pinot Noir and Brouilly cannot be recommended. They went back but with no fuss whatsoever from the team. One area for the sommelier to reconsider. But there are better choices of wine by the bottle. Thanks Llangoed for the perfect recharge and you are quite wonderful Team!

Staff were amazing, their care and friendliness were great and they were very professional, BUT they are 100% understaffed which led to some bad experiences. No proper reception, so if you arrive while 1 of 2 staff are dealing with others, you will wait just to be checked in. The room was not cleaned/tidied up when we came the following evening back, i had to call reception to request towels, but because none were at reception- no one answered the phone, so had to go downstairs where a friendly staff member helped straight away. The menu in restaurant is same and limited for a whole week, however the quality of food is AMAZING.Again the two key staff members dealing with reception, bar and restaurant were brilliant!!!I just wish they had extra man power because at their prices for Wales, those mistakes were not acceptable. People pay for experience - experience was undermined.

Beautiful venue but below average customer service. The wedding we attended was enjoyable, but the food as a general guest was cold and dull. Wish it could have been better, perhaps with more staff they could have improved

£17 for a glass of wine ! Yes, you read that right £17 for a glass. One hour 15 minutes wait for breakfast.

Lovely hotel and grounds where we stayed 3 nights for a wedding. Wedding was great and wedding food lovely. However, for the other meals we were really disappointed. The breakfast was fine but menu limited, but couldn’t get dinner, lunch or room service for the non-wedding related meals. We had to go to the local shop and buy ourselves a picnic. Not what we expected for such a very expensive hotel!

The good: most of the staff were lovely and friendly, the setting, hall and grounds are gorgeous. Our room was lovely (I would recommend a state room)The bad: we ordered a bottle from the wine list via the waitress (we were unaware there is a sommieler). It was £40 which is more than I would normally spend as NHS salaries aren't big! The wine wasn't good and when I looked it up I was shocked to see it retails at £8. I expect a 2-3 X mark up but X5 is a rip off and leaves a bad taste! Given their award winning wine list in 2020 I would expect all the wines to be decent and no major pitfalls. When I gave feedback in person I was told I should have asked the sommieler and when I emailed privately an acknowledgement of receipt is all we receivedMy partner also made the error of asking a question about the size of the sirloin cut and was informed patronisingly that the restaurant is a "fine dining" experience and it wouldn't be an 8oz Steak. We are younger and felt treated as if we were out of place... We have attended Michelin star restaurants and can assure the hall their food is nice but not exceptional. Even if people are coming who do not normally frequent such establishments being rude and making them feel out of place isn't acceptable or good business.A shame! It took a shine off birthday celebrations. Other hotels on our trip gave a better dining experience and much nicer wine!

This place was an absolute joy to stay at. The scenery is just superb and the old building is an absolute delight! The staff here are very friendly and attentive, nothing seems too much trouble. The room and facilities were very clean and smelt really fresh. All kudos to the house keepers here! The chefs also produced some excellent meals and taster options, very creative! We stayed for a few nights here over a recent bank holiday as a birthday present for me and I really felt that I would miss the place when we left, I don't ever remember feeling like that about a hotel stay before. Well done to all the staff here! Would highly recommend!

We feel this stay had some ups and downs but we'll not be returning due more to staffing issues.ROOM 5Gorgeous room with amazing views.Door handle was falling off inside, TV remote not working and chandelier bulb out.ROOM 8As we broke our stay we were moved to another room which we did feel was a class down from the original in terms of view, bed size and luxury.Major issue was the shower which had insufficient pressure to take a proper shower. This needs to be addressed by a professional plumber before another guest uses this room. Also bathroom TV remote not working.RECEPTIONRather confusing as no desk nor signposted. Not the most welcoming start.MAINTENENCEALL maintenance issues should have been noticed before we checked in, it's not acceptable in a hotel of this class and price at all.CLEANINGBathrooms not that clean nor communal areas. Very odd as the hotel has overtly strick covid19 protocols. Also the refusal to not service rooms daily is absurd and illogical - cleaning should be more frequent not less.FOODGood quality and mostly good service. Taster was very good.BARMANAbsolutely lovely chap who looked after us constantly. He created a wine pairing for us with our taster meal - really well done.DINING SUPERVISORReally fun, friendly and so hard working. Always looking after us.Most of the other staff went out of their way to be flexible and attentive during our stay. With an exception...GENERAL MANAGERESSWhilst I'm sure she feels she is professional (and always right) in her emails, on the phone and in person she has a rather rude attitude. Not sure if this is something personal or because of our orientation but it has totally put us off the hotel. She is totally inflexible, condescending and rather negative in every single interaction. She made us feel very unwelcome.Mrs. Danvers from Rebecca crossed with Nurse Ratched and Frau Blücher!Well that's it. Everyone of the staff matters and it's unfortunate when one drags down the impression of the hotel for guests.

All the food was amazing. We had breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea whilst there and it was all great. Staff are really friendly and the room was lovely. Doesn't have air con though so it's rather hot in the night. We had a great time there :)
