Three floors of books in a beautiful building full of character. Downstairs there is a good stock of second hand books in various conditions, but prices are generally slightly higher than your usual second hand/charity fare. (This was a recurring theme through all of the bookstores in town) I saw few first or special editions, again very pricey. The first and second floors house a very good range of new books. Additionally, the second floor has a comfortable seating area in case your friends or significant other are not as enthusiastic about spending a few hours perusing bookshelves.

Probably my favourite bookshop ever. Everything just as it should be.

Huge selection of secondhand books and some new. Some interesting and obscure items can be found on the vast range of shelves.

Vast and amazing selection, you would get lost in here all day. Amazing variety of new fiction and lots of paperback! Well worth the visit if you love books or are shopping for a book lover, there's something for everyone!

In all honesty, I visited Hay-on-wye, largely to visit this place and I must say I wasn't disappointed at all! In fact it outlived my expectations! There are so many books that the first feeling is that of being overwhelmed. But once you get over that, you realise you need not a few hours but two days at least to go through each aisle and everything they offer! It's not what you'd call a second hand bookshop in terms of prices, don't be mistaken, they do sell new books as well as old first editions and leather bound book editions etc and hence it's not cheap. It is on the pricier end of a bookshop. There's a hidden gem of books in the basement which most people forget to visit. There's also a cafe serving absolutely fantastic pancakes at the far end of the cafe! The fries/chips and the pancakes saved my day as vegetarian person! My partner loved them so much that he ordered a second plate for himself! The staff is very kind and thoughtful as well! The leather chairs are comfy, so go there with time on your hands to make yourself comfy in those chairs to indulge with a book of your choice!PS they also sell amazing cards, journals and notebooks!

Fantastic range of books, old and new. Upstairs and downstairs. There is a reading area and a cafe there as well.

A beautiful bookshop in a wonderful building. Has two floors selling both new and secondhand books. There's also a cafe which serves great food, and is set in a beautifully bright spacious area towards the back. Also houses a fantastic cinema.

My wife and I really enjoy bookshops. Even in the amazing Hay on Wye which is crammed with excellent bookshops Booth's is the best. I think that makes it the best I've ever been to. I did struggle to find some low brow books that I was after but other than that it cannot be beaten.
