The Cain Valley Hotel in Powys

This was a Christmas present for my partner, set in North Wales, great location for exploring and the hotel was excellent with lovely food and a very friendly atmosphere, will go again

Great hotel build around 1700, great staffs and clean room, my personal think the breakfast is a non waste style breakfast because you just need to tell them what you want to eat and how much food. I and my other three friends had a great time in this hotel, highly recommend, it next to the street but very quiet room at night.

Rude and obnoxious customer service! Have made a booking via booking.com and rang to enquire about parking. The guy that picked up the phone literally had a go at me for using booking.com as now he’s got to pay 15% fee plus he needs to ‘talk to me’… Never ever have I been told off for wanting to spend my money at a hotel! Shocking customer service. He then proceeded to ask what did I want him to do my my motorcycle and swiftly followed by saying ‘yeah, cancel the booking mate’ I’m speechless how someone like that can run a business. Well, you won’t be seeing any of my money ‘mate’!

Absolutely beautiful place, the room was spacious with the most comfortable bed! It was clean and cool (heat wave meant the coolness was brilliant). The food was incredibly well priced and it came fast, the portion sizes were brilliant and the food was hot and tasty. The staff were also really friendly, especially Shaun who looked after us well, and one girl who worked the bar who's name I didn't catch. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who's going to be staying in the area, who who wants a nice break in a very scenic part of Wales!

Stayed here 3 weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff made it so as nothing was too much trouble. Also all food and drink was extremely competitively priced and very nice. Thank you to everyone

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at the hotel.The staff were amazing and the food delicious. We would thoroughly recommend a visit here.

Stayed for 2 nights as we were in the town for a wedding party. Old building and the decor was a bit quirky but the room was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Sloping ceiling and old beams meant a shower in our bathroom was impossible, but there was a shower attachment with the bath and loads of hot water so no issue. Breakfast was included and was really tasty. We had a meal in the lounge on one night which was excellent and very good value for money.

We had a great stay at The Cain! The food was fantastic for both dinner and breakfast and the room was immaculately clean as well as REALLY spacious! Definitely value for money!! We loved the traditional style to the rooms with the exposed beams and felt the pub and hotel has been really well kept! Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic stay! A great building that is well presented and within keeping of its age! Quirky, traditional and immaculately clean! Linda was incredibly accommodating with our requests, with nothing being too much trouble! Would highly recommend! (Great breakfast too)!

We stayed in room 11 on the top floor. The room is massive and extremely nicely decorated. The bathroom is great and the shower is powerful and hot, if a bit loud. The customer service was brilliant. The car park is small and was tricky to get into on arrival, but there was plenty of space over the next few days, so maybe just unlucky timing. The building is old and the sash windows let in a perfect amount of cool, but unfortunately also noise from the road and the beer garden below. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've had on the road. Would definitely use again.
