It's a lovely pub, and as always with spoons, it's cheap and you know what your getting, app is easy to use and really helpful. However going in 3 times in total during our holiday for a quick drink, once for breakfast, all the tables are usually full of glasses and dirty plates, and no effort is made to clean up. The only person I saw collecting glasses for thier return trip after serving something to a table was the manager. Perhaps they are short staffed 🤷‍♂️.Theres nice outside seating and a lovely conservatory type area to sit in too

First visit was early in the week when it wasn't too busy and it was excellent. Second visit was on a busy night and there weren't enough staff to cope. Pasta was one solid lump, eggs were hard and one meal was only warm. Eat there on a quiet night and it will be a good night out in plesent surroundings. If it's busy and the staff are running around looking frazzled then don't expect too much.

Pizza good but couldn't get over the price of the drinks: 3 of 4 of us had wine, beer and cider and total was less than 1 glass of wine in most places. That deserves 5 stars. Thank you for giving the customer a break in these expensive times!!!

Staff were really getting into the jubilee spirit. Great to see. Helpful and friendly staff too. Unlike the local weatherspoons. The food is weatherspoons food but the members of staff working that weekend (jubilee) get a high 5!

I ordered lemon and herb chicken. It came out in around 3 minutes, suspiciously quick. My suspicions were on point, as the meat was dry and yeh bones were brittle. It was over cooked and sitting there for awhile. Pretty manky to be honest.

Place was clean and tidy, not too crowded on our visit. Food was brought out swiftly and hot. No waiting to get served at the bar. Toilets very clean on our visit. A much better experience than the public house we visited approx 6 miles down the canal towpath the previous evening.

Stayed on the 26th march and sadly had an awful nights sleep (room 2). The toilet plumbing from the room upstairs travels through the ceiling of this room and an open mesh ceiling hatch means hearing everytime the toilet was flushed through the night, must have been 5-6 times. Couldn't wait to get home and rest.I wrote an email to the hotel explaining everything and received no response. I contacted head office who said they would inform the hotel manager, again no response. I have contacted head office a second time, and it has been a week with still total silence from the management at the George. If you have been given room 2 please reconsider your stay. And if you have a bad experience don't expect any response from them to rectify. On the plus side, the food and drinks are very good and well priced.Management are free to respondUpdate - hotel manager has now dealt with this is in a positive manner.

The venue looks clean and well laid out. It is a big pub with plenty of seating. Hand sanitiser stations are dotted around a number of locations. Although I think orders can now be taken at the bar, there are signs requesting that orders are made via the App which I did.The App is easy to use and went through without any issues. The drinks did arrive quite a while after the food and only when prompted by us trying to collect them from the end of the bar ourselves. The kids were happy with their Lemon and herb chicken, my father with his ham, egg and chips but my wife and I a bit disappointed with out 5 bean chilli. All obviously packet/microwave heated which we knew would be the case but my rice had the flavouring powder dispersed in it in large lumps. The cost of the food and drink was low but in some cases you can see why. There were plenty of types of lager and ale on offer and my wife had limitless coffee, obtained from a self service machine next to the bar.The toilets were clean and in good order, the taps and hand dryers being activated by sensor (touchless).Only guide dogs were allowed on the premises and there was a large outdoor seating area.Just going for drinks would be great as they are very reasonably priced and there are lots to choose from but it wouldn't be my first choice to go for dinner by some margin.

A couple of nights stay in Brecon whilst exploring the Beacons and waterfall country was fantastic thanks to the staff of the George hotel. The rooms are absolutely lovely, clean, comfortable and well decorated (I have to admit I was expecting something basic, so was surprised and happy to be wrong about that).Right in the centre of Brecon so you can eat cheaply at the hotel or explore the town. The central location makes it a great base for anyone hiking around the many places of interest associated with the Brecon Beacons.Good hotels can sometimes be let down by their staff but at the George the staff couldn't do enough to make the visit special. Being disabled I always get anxious about sleeping somewhere new but nothing was too much trouble for the managerial staff to accommodate my needs. I will definitely stay here again in the future. Thank you all at The George, you are leading the way in hospitality!

Terrible place. Food was rubbish. Had fish and chips at 4.30pm on good Friday, peas were cold, fish was scraps and not a fillet. Chips were hard. Sent meal back with waitress then heard no more! Wouldn't go there again or recommend.
