Excellent service for a party of 21 (including 3 boisterous children). The food was gorgeous and we didn't have to wait too long between courses. Thoroughly recommend this place after our 3rd family gathering there. 5 🌟 🤩

Went on my birthday, service was slow, despite it not being that busy.Since going a month earlier earlier the price of everything on the entire menu had gone up by at least ÂŁ2.My partner had sausage and mash with peas for ÂŁ14.50. Probably the most I've ever paid for sausage and mash. The sausages were nothing special just normal sausages. The mash was horrendous and the portion was tiny. For the price i would have expected a large portion of seasonal vegetables. The worst bit however was the gravy, basically brown water it was really disappointing.I had a burger again ÂŁ14.50 which for a basic burger is a lot. It was an extra ÂŁ1 for cheddar. The bun had been toasted until it was black in places, the burger was nothing special for the price. Chips were basic bought in chips you can't really mess them up. They had made the coleslaw, however the portion was stingy and there was too much mayo in it.It's a shame they have made their prices so extremely high for food that isn't amazing. We will not be going back.

Very nice ambiance, lots of little pockets of seating for privacy. Very good food and nice staff.

The hake and broccoli bake was so nice, really good home cooked style pub food and good prices too. This pub is also dog friendly.

Had afternoon lunch with friends on a Saturday. I ordered the soup of the day as a starter, which was mushroom, absolutely delicious and we'll presented. No seasoning needed, could have just had that as a main. For main course went with pie of the day which was steak and ale. Big chunks of steak, not much sauce inside which kept the pastry lovely and crusty even at the base when usual pies are soft and moist. A side of gravy to pour with a generous portion of peas and the mash was very nice. Could not finish was lovely and filling. Dessert was very much ruled out as I was stuffed. My wife and I had a couple of jug cocktails which also went down very nicely too especially the Jamaican rum. Staff were pleasant and came over a couple of times to see if everything was alright. Would definitely come back here again.

Stopped for a spot of lunch. Whilst on holiday. Good parking area. Be aware we came up the hill from town and from the back it looks shut. Staff were lovely. Had the children’s sausage, chips and beans. Me and hubby has sandwich menu with chips. All were very nice and good portions. Toilets lovely and clean. It’s right opposite the steam train so good place for lunch.
