Very friendly staff at bar and nice small play area for children.Poor quality food.Dry, hard burger buns, chicken filet hard to cut, never mind chew, thin cold hard chips, over microwaved mash, un child friendly nuggets in child's meal (funny flavor, tough/chewy).

1st visit. Clean and tidy throughout. Manager doing a great job on his own front of house, taking food and drink orders and sering up the food. Good job it was not too busy.

Firstly disappointing that pizza wasn't available as oven not working. Service was efficient. Staff very polite and friendly. Our food was not great. The burger was dry and not that tasty. Ive had much better burgers for the price. My baguete barely had any chicken in it . Very boring and bland. For a marstons we expected much better. Not a great experience overall as we were having a day out inwelshpool. Wouldn't rush back there.

Nice to find an immaculate comfort Room, and brass polished door push plate to remind cleanliness. Electrical accessories labelled highlighting good maintenance and most importantly straight forward food reasonably priced, serviced without fuss. One to mark on the map.

We have eaten at the Smithfield Bell many times since moving to the area nearly 4 years ago, and always found it enjoyable and good value, until now that is. All of the front of house staff seem to have changed, and the standards have dropped: there were errors in how our order was taken, then we were waiting over 30 minutes (and it wasn't busy) whilst our vegetarian choice was prepared, then when it was finally brought out it was the wrong choice! And the food was served on cold plates and so went cold very quickly. It will be a long time before we return to find out whether or not we'd had a 'one-off' bad experience, or whether the new staff had ruined the place.

My husband and I went late afternoon last Sunday for a meal, he had the mixed grill and I had 4 sides as couldn’t choose what to have! All came out together and all beautifully presented and tasted fantastic, the staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. We thoroughly enjoyed so well done all we will be back soon ❤️

Visiting family gave it a try for a change.Advised on arrival there would be a delay as they were down a chef. My adult daughter had the chicken burger, clean plate. Her partner had the large cod and chips, clean plate.Smaller appetite I had the light bite on the menu for the cod and chips, it was still hanging over both sides of my plate.I can honestly say it was the best cod and chips that I have had in a while. The batter was light and crisp and lovely white chunky cod and tasty chipsA small gripe would be the small spoonful of mushy peas on my plate. Meal washed down with a nice glass of Malbec.Service attentive and food reasonably priced.Oh and a clean plate for me.Will be back.

Not a bad experience but not great. They confused my son's lunch order and brought the wrong thing before correcting it, unfortunate, but they also ended up charging us for the more expensive meal. We only realised after we'd left unfortunately. Maybe just a honest mistake. Pizzeria and grill but my son's first choice of a kids pizza was not available, in fact all pizza and doughballs were off.The staff were amiable but seemed busyThe food we did get was good the chips were actually great, not standard soggy chips but really crisp and tasty, if a little on the scarce side. I had the cowboy burger mega sized, I didn't actually know how big it would be as it came in under £10. It was again very good, the burgers didn't taste cheap considering the price and they were well cooked, not limp and had good flavour.During the meal however we were all persistently bothered by several files attempting to land which is not something you'd expect inside. There was an absorbing play area outside for my children and inside had a children's corner. All in all it was good food as whole family enjoyed their meals. Only let down by a mistake putting through the order and the flies in the building. It deterred us from having a dessert.Final thing was it was more expensive than expected. 3 adult meals, one of which was on a daily offer and mine was under £10, and a lite bite meal. 4 soft drinks and price was a chunk over £50, so a bit pricey but not extortionate.
