The food is good but the owner/bar manager is sharp and dismissive; several times I have tried to get a lunch meal but turned away as we haven’t booked. We explained that we would be happy with a quick sandwich and as the place was empty at the time, I thought we could be accommodated. Unfortunately, we were sent on our way! This is a shame as I am local and running a leisure business, with up to 10 clients a day - we could be regular customers!

Booked in February for Sunday lunch today whilst on holiday. Still a 2 hour drive from where we are staying only to find the place closed. They had my e-mail and mobile number so no excuse not to contact us. We slipped through the net apparently.

This place is a gem in the valley. Hosts/Owners care which makes it a cozy experience. The place is quiet, meals are fresh and tasty, tons of trails to walk

We stopped here on our way through, not quite by accident, just before the end of their lunch serving. We were welcomed in with the dog too and nothing was too much trouble. The owner was polite, attentive without being intrusive and very welcoming. The food was absolutely fantastic and worth the money spent. Quite possibly the best pub food we have had!

Don't go if not in Sunday Best. Refused even a drink when turned up on mountain bikes.Bar man looked stressed to death with with 6 people in restaraunt. Avoid

This is a lovely hotel in a beautiful location and we really enjoyed our short stay here. The hosts Nicky and Mark and their staff were warm, friendly and very helpful. The room was a good size and the bed was huge, the best and most comfortable of any hotel I've stayed in. The interior of the hotel is beautifully furnished with a number of comfortable public rooms with lovely warm real fires kept going all day, ideal for relaxing after a hard day's sight seeing! All the food we had was fantastic, really good quality with a chef that clearly knows what they are doing. Lamb and beef from the local farms was delicious and the combinations of flavours and textures were really well balanced. Highly recommended, thanks.

We had a lovely two nights stay at this beautiful hotel during the end of August. Upon arrival Nicky, Mark and team were so warm and welcoming. They really couldn't do more for us.The views in and around the valley are just gorgeous. There are plenty of lovely walks and a fab gallery across the road with some absolute gems! It's a cyclists heaven with spectacular views all round. The food was outstanding !!!A perfect place to unwind in the stunning garden or sit in front of the fire with a glass of wine! We will definitely be re booking for winter 21.Thanks Nicky, Mark and Team for a special break :)Rebecca & Euros xxx

We had a Saturday lunch with friends. Good menu and and good food but a mistake made when order was taken. Friend specified egg not pineapple with his gammon. Meal arrived with pineapple! Mistake was rectified. Otherwise pleasant friendly and timely service. We ate inside. The outside set up up looked perfect. Lovely views and someone with green fingers and an eye for style had put together lovely plantings. Quite an adventure to get there! The last 40 minutes of our journey were along single track roads with passing places. Hate to go there on bin collection day! However the landscape is heavenly. We will definitely go again.

What a lovely place! Nicky and Mark made us (and our dog) feel very welcome in their stylish and comfortable hotel and restaurant. Bedroom was smart and spacious, dinner and breakfast were spot on and the general atmosphere was very relaxed. And all this in quite the most stunning countryside anywhere!
