Brewers Fayre Mains of Balquharn in Aberdeen City

Hardly top tier dining but even with IT issues affecting the till systems the staff still got the food orders right and served without delay.

Food was nice, play area is £3.50 but for a extra 50p you can get unlimited tea or coffee so worked out lovely. We stayed for a while and had a lovely meal. Kids had a great time.

Hands down the worst carvery I've been to. The selection was abysmal honestly there were only about 10 different items to choose from they didn't even have carrots. They had mash which was stone cold and honey roast parsnips that were still hard in the middle. The only reason it's not getting 1 star is because the staff were very good!

Ordered fish chips and beans, fish was over cooked chips were cooked and cold and the beans were warm at best they need to get there act sorted out about a year ago it was a great meal don't know what's happened.

Had two lovely breakfasts here and one evening meal.The evening meal was nice but I thought the portions a bit on the small size.Very obliging and friendly staff.

Staff were very friendly (especially the dude with the black spiked hair, sorry I don’t know his name!) the place is VERY clean. Toilets were spotless. Would recommend for some lunch and a sit down on your travels. Prices are also reasonable. Few things out of stock on the menu but didn’t affect us as there was plenty to choose from.

Having never visited this place before, we decided to take my son-in-law out for a birthday dinner. My daughter called ahead and was told the carvery was still open but they had run out of beef. On arriving we waited for a good 10 minutes before anyone came to serve us, paid for 5 meals plus a kids and drinks. Go to get food and there’s only enough meat for one meal. The serving staff didn’t speak very good English and didn’t understand when I asked that his meal be kept hot until the rest of us were served. The manager had asked him to make chicken breasts for us and he came out with one. The manager was running about like a headless chicken trying to keep the place going. We decided we’d wasted enough time waiting so asked for a refund. I paid cash but they wanted to refund onto a card because the company don’t like to refund cash. Not a chance mate, I paid cash, I want cash refund. He only refunded the food because he’d already served the drinks that were still sat on the table untouched. Absolutely shocking service. Never been before and most certainly will never return!!!!!!! Had there been an options for no stars I would have chosen it!

Firstly let me say this is not the staff's fault!!!! 3 staff to, meet and greet, tend bar and table service. Absolutely shocking to put them under that pressure. When the food came it was extremely poor quality. Onion rings, chips and chicken wings over cooked. I can only suspect that the kitchen is also short staffed and they are cooking in advance and then re frying. Or the oil hasn't been changed in a while. BAD BAD BAD! The front of house staff were very apologetic and tried their best

This is our third visit. I come here because its close to my house and also my son loves the play area. The staff are very welcoming and the food is decent. I like the mixed grill here and the Cluck and Ale burger. To finish things on a sweeter note my son loves his kids ice-cream and the Caramel Sunday. I see the bad reviews and understand people must have had a bad experience but I guess I've been lucky with everything so far. Anyone with kids looking for a decent meal try this place.
