IX The Chester Hotel in Aberdeen City

As we arrived after main party to teas (we went up to crem to say last goobye) it was not noticed by staff.even though the table that had previously been empty was now full.this included the widow.no supervisor or overseer.had to ask for teas /coffees.should not happen.lovely sandwiches and toilets were 5 star..michael

Very positive experience. Food was excellent, environment was lovely and staff were very friendly and helpful.We popped in on a whim for lunch as we were shopping in Aberdeen and hadn't been in since before the renovations several years ago. We were very impressed, both by the lovely decor inside and for myself by the absolutely tremendous whisky collection on display.The staff were lovely and friendly and one young gentleman who's name slips my mind now was very happy to show me around the entire collection and give me some info on whiskies available to buy.The food took a reasonable amount of time, it was well presented and very tasty. Price was a little on the high end as you'd expect in such a place but overall between enjoyability and environment was still good value for money and we had a very enjoyable meal.Hope to return for one of the evening tasting menus in the near future.

Had a beautiful family lunch with top quality food and a wide selection of cocktails. The private function room was spacious, warm and light and airy. The staff were attentive and obviously trained to ensure that guests enjoy their time there.

Writing this so other brides won't end up in my shoes on their special day and are prepared better then I did with reading and contracts.Problems with attitudeFor event organiser put attention to contract instead of verbal discussion.Lovely food.Nice bright Venue for photos.Nice bedrooms although tawels and breakfast takes time to deliver when it comes to sweet rooms.Nice management on the day and very rude after event I hope they will treat other brides nicer.Wedding day 2/4 Yang student staff for drink and canapés.staff did not wanting to come to the tables with teaAnd coffee for some reason...Put atention to room check out as different receptionist trying to charge you over and over because of computer or system what ever issue is happening make sure you allow to use your payment only once to avoid further problems.Staff is helpful with decorations but they will mention it to over and over and make you feel bad for how much they did for you, so if you can do it yourself do some balloons out or chair decor.Guests delay are unpredictable but Chester manager made sure mention it on email how badly your guests lateTo avoid extra cost for bar let your guests know where to go as organiser may not mention anything to them.amd guest will just wonder arround hotel presuming they arrived first.soo if you planing to invest in to hotel 4K or over maybe this is not a place for you as you want a nice memories after your wedding not an angry staff who will roll their eyes at reception and talk over you simply unprofessional.Please read emails do not listen verbal too much as it will sound like a good deal but emails will clear it up what are prices included and not included.Or you will be charged extra cost.Kitchen staff did amazing job delicious cooking.If you there just for meal more than recommend.Afternoon tea make sure you order serving with alkohol approved by email or u Will be charged what you discussed verbal but drinks may not arrive as email not telling sobut charge will be there of 27£per person(coffee/tea and 3-4cakes or kanapes per person) maybe not worth it buy yourself a good meal instead for amount afternoon tea money u wishing to spend.

As expected the food was amazing, the staff were engaging and attentive. Great atmosphere and just a great dining experience.

Lovely was there for my son's wedding and going back for hogmany. Rooms are more for business people than a comfortable stay. Wedding suite included. Nothing romantic about it at all. Food was lovely, expensive but worth it and portion size was good. Staff were friendly and helpful

Beautiful room. Excellent restaurant. Lovely breakfast. Strongly recommend this hotel. Only complaint that we had is that the restaurant could not give us a table, we had to eat in the bar. That is not acceptable for a resident. Never happened to me in any hotel in 50 years.

Well travellers hello Barry Allan five star food reviewer here and what can I say about the Chester hotel? Hold on to your hats this is a fantastic one! Well I've always wanted to go to the Chester hotel set on Queens road in the city of Aberdeen in an old granite building right on the edge of the city but being honest it's a bit out of my pocket range and I've asked before if they would do a complimentary to allow me to do a review but to no avail hey ho today was the day! Mum decided to treat me so off we went to the city for a lunch that I had been dreaming of and oh me it simply did not dissapoint at all! We entered the beautiful restaurant which was quiet and sat at our table and perused the menu, now as I said the Chester is a bit out of my budget and I looked at the prices ok I thought I looked at my mum who has been here several times and she said just order what you like so I did king prawn cocktail to start price 11 pounds! Followed by black gold sirloin steak 27.50 not cheap but wait until I describe the food and you will see why! So we chatted the staff were very friendly and attentive and it wasnt long before our starter arrived upon first look lovely we'll presented lovely juicy king prawns in the most lovely cocktail sauce with capers that gave it that extra spicy bite set upon a crumpet and a wedge of lemon it was so tasty again we sat and awaited our mains, we didn't have to wait long and what an absolutely delightful main course was set before me! The most perfectly cooked (medium rare) steak juicy and so so soft served with the loveliest sweet potatoe chips, carrots with honey and sesame seeds and the most delicious full flavoured peppercorn sauce I've ever tasted! The standard of the food on my plate and my mum's she had the halibut was simply five star excellence and I completely enjoyed every bite what a treat! Everything about my experience of the Chester was second to none it was wonderful, now as I've stated the Chester is a rather upmarket kind of place but you get what you pay for and I would implore anybody visiting the city to stop by for lunch or dinner I can assure you wholeheartedly you are in for some culinary excellence and I thank my mum for taking me ha I'm kind of hoping when the good folks at the Chester see this review I'm a huge reviewer they will invite me back all in all exceptional thankyou Barry allan

The only concern I had was the member of staff who I asked to direct me to the bridal room made me walk, carrying a bag, when I was obviously having trouble walking, on a walk up and down stairs. I discovered later there were lifts available to get me there without the long hike. Apart from that, staff were attentive, quick and the meal was good, remembering it was a wedding feast, of which we have had some shockers. Once I recovered from the hike, the day was very good and we enjoyed ourselves.

Hotel is fabulous. Just stunning all staff are very polite and very helpful. Breakfast was super anything you wanted you could have great set up. Room was beautiful. Beautiful big bar area and marquees out front to sit in. Excellent part of city to stay in.. Rooms were immaculate and very modern.
