A fine place to stop off on the way North , plenty of room with a large playground for the kiddies out the back and a lovely farm shop to wander about. Service was quick and the food was excellent ,I had the Balmoral chicken wrap while the gf had the fish and chips which she couldnt finish as it was so large , both meals were washed down with some iced latte frappe's

Went out for morning coffee and a snack, nice sunny day and food good and staff very helpful and polite. Farm shop has good selection of meals. Not too busy when we arrived.

The place is nice but the service is slow

Nice vast conservatory, well ventilated and spacious. Good bowl of soup, coffee. Asked for no ice with water, but glass was full of ice, though bottle of water was free of ice.

Food was excellent, the menu gives so many good options, really good choice & caters for everyone, the service from door to table & the care taken was exceptional. It was busy, but we were there as a party of three at possibly the busiest of times on a Sunday 😳😱 Certainly more than happy to return. Absolutely well worth a visit.

Best good, locally and ethically sourced. My new favorite place to take guests

It’s been a while since I was last there but I couldn’t believe this difference in the portion size since the last time I was there, I had the macaroni and chips, It was a small bowl of macaroni, and a little pot of chips, when I emptied the tub onto my plate there was 14 chips, for almost £10 there wasn’t a lot on my plate, while I was there someone else had macaroni and chips and got a bucket looking thing of chips which was double the size of the small tub I got. When I asked the waitress about it when I paid, she told me it would just be what was close to hand, surely all portions should be the same, or just put the chips on the plate , having said all that I can’t fault the food in any way it was delicious, the portion size was my only issue

Fantastic place and beautiful setting especially the conservatory dining area. An outdoor play area for kids when they are done dining. Great staff and good service. The Steak Baguette with Chips was phenomenal. I would definitely be back again.

Popped in for a quick cuppa. Tempted by the delicious cakes! We shared a strawberry tart and the waitress kindly brought us a knife and extra plate. Lovely friendly service and a pleasant place for tea.

Been going for years and this year just highlighted how good the food is in the Café. Peppered Steak Baguette was gorgeously juicy with medium fired steak cuts in the roll paired with caramelised onions. Not forgetting the rich, smooth & creamy peppercorn sauce to drizzle over (and enough leftover to dip the side of chips served with!).The shop too is brilliant, farm produce from around the area and beyond as well as the homegrown Castleton berries, the results of Ross Mitchell's genius. Probably the finest berries Scotland has to offer. Coming here in the summer is a must. A+
