Dolphin Cafe in Aberdeenshire

Excellent food, great service and staff. I've been a regular at the Dolphin since childhood and seen it at its best and worst through several previous owners. I sometimes visit daily while working at the harbour and am never disappointed with the quality of food and standard of service since the latest owners have taken it on.

Would recommend the fish cakes, really lovely. Can't wait to come back

Beautifully prepared fish, with a wide selection of seafood on the menu. Great chips and slaw. Worth every penny as the food is a treat! Highly recommend. You should open a cafe in Aberdeen!

Very nice place to have a lunch. They have a great choice on the menu. Staff are all courteous and friendly. The haddock and chips are excellent with the chips nice and crispy on the outside.

Okay so the fish is fantastic don’t get me wrong. It’s delicate, it’s flaky but the chips didn’t hit it at all. A bit like meh: soggy, not crispy, not oily soggy like water soggy, not enough effort on the chips. And then asked for salt and vinegar but just wasn’t enough of it on there either. A good fish and chips needs to have both fish and chips smack down. The whole experience would’ve been better if the chips were even a tad bit better.

Staff are great location is good, specials not updated to reflect no longer available. Fish is genuinely fresh and great quality. More care needs to be taken on draining oil from some dishes, there shouldn't be oil pooling under scampi and a clear sheen on chips. Don't let this put you off as the raw produce is really good, technique needs some small improvement, keep working on achieving consistency.

The north east of Scotland is rightly famed for its excellent fish and chip restaurants. The Dolphin - located right next to the boats bringing in fresh fish - can justly take its place amongst the very best of them. Choice and service is first class and there is a real sense of place with its exceptional location right next to the harbour. If you’re in Peterhead stop by and visit. You will not regret it!
