Lovely fish suppers at a reasonable price

Food is great but they don't open on time supposedly 4.30 it's now 4.43 and lights went on.

I was pleasantly surprised. It was my last port of call having failed to find a fish and chip shop open in three other villages. The shop itself wasn't particularly inspiring but the food was actually very nice indeed and I will use it again.

Disappointed with the food provided. Out on the bike last night and kept away from the coast as the weather was better in land. I used to live in Lournie in my youth and this chipper used to be a favourite but that was 30-40 years ago. Things have changed!!! I was looking forward to the chips as they were chunky. Maybe the fat was old or the food was overcooked but it had a burnt taste. This chicken goujons and the scampi had the same taste. Everything was a little greasy. Running out of the scampi and the goujons as you bit into them. Looooooong wait on food so was expecting better. Really disappointing. Won't be back in a hurry.

The food is not great and the service is pretty poor. I have been a few times and have never experienced anything that deserves more than 2 stars

Fish was lovely and fresh, chips were quite tasty and not greasy. Very friendly and professional staff. Prices, whilst not cheap, are quite competitive, particularly bearing in mind the service and also generous portion size. Also worth noting. That the premises seemed really clean.

Unplanned stop as we had missed the turnoff to Mc'ds on the way up from airport. Will definitely come back. Was excellent. Fresh and very generous portion. Unusual to get steak chips but well cooked.

Living close to Stonehaven I am spoiled for choice when looking for a good chip shop, The Bay, The Carron, The Redcloak and the Quaside in Gourdon all close by.So when i was travelling home via the A90, i decided to stop at the Lournie Chipper in Laurencekirk for my supper.Well on the good side the prices were reasonable and the portion size was also reasonable, but on the bad side the food was extremely greasy, I understand that all food that has been deep fried is going to have some traces of grease in it, but this was overly noticeable if that makes sense.I can't say that I enjoyed the food but I can say that I probably won't be going back.

As good as it gets. It must rank up there with the best Fish and Chip shops in the UK. Great service with a cheery smile. All food cooked fresh so a few minutes wait is certainly worth the wait. Real home cut and cooked chips that are utterly delicious. Don't just pass Laurencekirk nip in to the town for a great feast of food.

The chips are great. Not your soggy fatty sort of chip but a crisp and 'home style' sort of chip that had various size and texture. The fish is fresh (you can tell) White as snow and had the texture that let it break open into flakes. Must admit the staff could try smile. The batter is crisp and light. First time I tried Haggis and it was nice. located half way up the high street so you can't get more local than that. No tables so get and go! But I did stand in the corner and ate out of tray like normal people do as others were served! (it was cold outside). If you can try the 'Crown' Pub, (not far away) it's a nice place to sit after your grub.
