Had a great 3 course meal! Staff were really good,

Delicious meal last night (22.1.21). Steaks were cooked to perfection. Absolutely no complaints.

I visited this hotel 2 weeks ago. I was with a group of ladies. We had a lovely afternoon tea. My only fault would be the service was a bit slow.

Great, very friendly place. Staff can't do enough to help. Coffee and fancies very nice, and the meals are great. It might not be a big posh hotel but it is one of those nice homely places you feel comfortable in. So why only 4 stars? Unfortunately there are steps to get in but they do have a portable ramp, so let them know in advance if you need disabled access. I went to the loo when I was there but was unable to find an accessible loo. That doesn't mean there isn't one though. I used the ordinary gents and thought I was going to have to shout for help, my bad hip decided at that time it no longer wanted to support my full weight and of course, being the general toilet, there were no bars. But I managed in the end after a big struggle.On the whole, I would generally recommend here for a visit for a coffee, meal or a quiet drink. It has that peaceful feeling of age, long establishment, calmness and efficiency that can only be earned with time and practice.

Absolutely brilliant place. Food was simply tremendous. Setting of the bar with the coal fire was super as well. Superb service and definitely be back.

Unfortunately, steps to get in, but there is a portable ramp available on request. Inside was ample room to get to where I needed considering the dimensions and age of the hotel, which severely limits any major adjustments. Unfortunately I couldn't find the disabled toilet and tried to make do with the ordinary public toilet and found I was really struggling to get back up off the seat without the aid of rails. I thought I was going to have the ultimate embarrassment of having to start shouting for assistance. Many people don't realise it but there is a reason for railings for people with disabilities! However, the staff made up for everything by being the most pleasant and helpful people imaginable, nothing was any bother and they always seemed to be happy and smiling. Such a breath of fresh air after the last 18 months! If you are by this way, pop in by for a quiet drink or a nice cuppa and one of their lovely fine pieces, I can highly recommend it for both the service and the ambiance.

Had a post lockdown meal with friends which was really good.Meals were superb, all tasty and decent sized portions. Nothing was left on the plates. Lamb shanks, beef steak pie, chicken in creamy sauce, chicken Maryland and fish & chips. Puddings were good too.Staff were polite, helpful and non intrusive.Great meal catching up with friends.Would definitely recommend and will be back 😁
