"Traditional Scottish pub in the heart of Ballater serving quality pub food using local ingredients. The menu consists of homemade burgers, curry, pizza, fish, steak pie and vegetarian options as well as homemade puddings. We have an excellent array of premium spirts with over 35 gins and over 40 malt whiskies. We serve local real ales, craft beers and lagers. We broadcast live sports over 6 big screens and host Karaoke evenings on Friday evenings. We have an outside area on the green where you can eat and drink whilst enjoying the best views of the village."

We both had the fish & chips. Mushy pea's were delicious. To finish off I had creme brulee and hubby had apple & Rhubarb crumble ice-cream.

On Friday lunch time we met up here. We all had something to eat and soft drinks. My tuna & cheese pannini was lovely with a side salad and crisps mmm. Others had soup & a sandwich.Comments: 1.Why use slates - much prefer a white plate. 2. Ham sandwich - the ham was very scarce. 3. The Cullen soup seemed to be out of a tin! 4. Nice to know that they have Appletizer.

Average pub grub. Staff adequate. Disappointed with lack of adherence to current Covid restrictions. Most concerning was lack of face covering with both bar staff and Customers. One meter rule not in place on my visit.

If you are a tourist, this pub is lovely. It has tartan, interesting friendly locals, welcoming staff, sky TV, games tables and has nice Xmas decorations and does a reasonable menu.

Good place for a drink and pretty good food too. Great selection of beers and whiskies. Staff were very friendly. Will definitely go back. Go early if you want the crumble dessert!!
