Ashoka Indian Restaurant in County Durham

Called in as we are new to the area to check if we needed to book a table. We did, but they went above and beyond by finding us a table between bookings. The meal was delicious, the service impeccable and we were made extremely welcome. We will definitely be returning and booking in advance😁

The service was second to none, they couldn't do enough. The food was delicious, I had a traditional lamb sagg and it was beautiful!

We came for Valentine's dinner on Monday, it was mostly efficient service, although the table was cramped (every other couple was seated on a 4 seater table, and offered a choice of where to sit, I'm not sure why we weren't).I did feel awkward during service as multiple staff were talking to a couple on the table next to us frequently, so I had to interrupt conversation to request another drink, and whilst waiting for a nann bread to come with the food the staff member was going to go back for it from the kitchen, but got distracted talking for a few minutes.I think its nice to have this community feel with what appeared to be regulars, but not when it causes lesser service to other customers.The quality of food did make up for this however, it really was delicious and I would definitely recommend, and I would return.

Absolutely beautiful food ... Great portions ! Staff extremely nice and helpful. Really nice restaurant. Would very much recommend a visit. We'll definitely be going back.

I have never had a whole hard boiled egg, hot tomato, cucumber and cabbage in a chicken biryani before. It was bland with no trace of spice and a complete disappointment. The chicken madras was watery with no real heat and the poorest example I have ever had. This was our first meal from this restaurant and not an experience I would recommend to anyone, we certainty will not be having food from Ashoka again.

Excellent food... perfection, excellent service, staff worked amazing under pressure, good space between tables... good social distancing, very clean will Defiantly be back, can’t wait actually xx

Visited here a few times now and all occasions have been exceptional. My last visit made me write this post, as a nearby Italian restaurant let me down for a Christmas meal. Ashoka came to the rescue with a table as soon as i rang. Couldn't thank them enough, food is really amazing and a nice atmosphere for three young women. They even packed up my leftovers to take home :) would recommend!!
