Bistro Italiano in County Durham

Very disappointing. Having booked for 8:00pm, still waiting for a table at 8:40pm .... we left. We know that the food is very good, but will not be going back on a weekend again, as we would like to actually eat some! There were several other diners in the same situation sat upstairs waiting for up to an hour.

Cramped, music played from a single 80s radio blasted loudly, you hardly get any food and it's generall uncomfortable with some guy standing around watching you eat. Very pushy on the drinks as well! Go to La Spaghettata

Was here with 12 friends and we had lovely food, service and intimate atmosphere. Chose from the special menu. Very reasonable price, food tasty and sufficient. Waiters very polite and not intrusive, nothing a bother for them. We come here annually as a group but also as smaller groups throughout the year. Definitely recommend it.

Fabulous restaurant with a xcellent food, great service, Fabulous ambience and very reasonable prices. Best meal we have had for a long time. Go!

We been last night at Bistro Italiano and the food is excellent, very good wine, friendly service, great location. Fresh, tasty and clean cooking. Would Highly recommend it to everybody! We had a lovely evening.!

Excellent place, highly recommended. Food was fantastic and definitely not expensive for a city centre Italian. Excellent service from a friendly staff who will do anything to help, including cooking food that isn't on the menu. We phoned up to ask for a certain steak and they bought it in for us! Awesome place and a must to visit if you're in Durham.

The starters were delicious. The mushroom starter was less creamy than I'd expected, but that was good, because it was light like a starter should be. The scallops with chorizo were delicious too! The mains were delicious too. The ribye steak with chips was very nice, cooked medium-well, big portion, it was great with stilton sauce. The salmon was delicious too, cooked very well! It came with rice or chips, I chose rice. For dessert we had tiramisu and lemon pie ("Nonna"), delicious! Especially the lemon pie, it felt homemade! Would have preferred more relaxing music to go along with the relaxing ambience of the restaurant, but was cost-effective for great quality food, definitely worth visiting.Would recommend

The food was amazing! They have really good service and everything was delicious! We ordered two starters, one of them had haggis and the other one cheese, both incredible tasty. For the main we choose chicken. Even with dessert and two drinks we spend around £50 which is reasonable price. I fully recommend this place!
