Collage Restaurant Durham in County Durham

Great dinner. Enjoyed the new Valentines set menu. Food and service was great.

Afternoon tea. Lovely. Peaceful.Seen to straight away, ordered and settled straight away.nice not to be disturbed often, so it was relaxing.Scones could have been much better, too doughy/rubbery rather than scone-y , which was a disappointing. But overall a pleasant experience.

Parking arragments confusing, due to roadworks and construction of new building next to hotel and the lack of signage. Unable to determine parking cost or payment when in car park, therfore parked in local carpark.Hotel staff appear to be very helpful and friendly. Covid signage displayed in common areas. May visit again when works finished.

First nights stay last night we ate at the Collage resturant. The staff were really polite, welcoming and good banter. The food was beautiful, but also good quality and would have no issue eating here again. Highly recommend as a restaurant to eat at. A+++

Where would i even start, right, we got a reservation for half 6. Got there early and was seated straight away which i think was nice. But it was downhill from there, took more than 15 minutes for them to get us our drinks. It was 4 of us, 2 drinks were served, the other 2 i had to go to the counter as all of the waiters and the manager were just chatting there. I thought alright ill give it a chance as we were actually there to celebrate my sisters birthday. After being seated for 25mins they decided to get our orders, we ordered starters mains and wine. Starters were served after 20mins, we got seated at at 6:15pm and got served our mains at 7:45pm. Food was not great, pasta was dry, my 14yr old sister said burgers from mcdonalds were better than her burger. My steak was cold and very chewy and bcos at this point we were already starving we thought just finish the meal quick and go. No point sending it back as it might take another hour and cos its a school night, we were a bit wary of the time. We had to keep asking them to serve the wine, it got served finally but this was just after finishing our mains which put us all off. At this point our night was ruined and we just wanna leave so we asked for our bill, it took about more than 25mins and then the manager approached us and said its taking her a while as we had groupon vouchers and shes just trying to work out or bill and when i asked her how long more do we have to wait as we have been waiting all night she got a little irate and didnt even apologise. Finally got our bill at around 9pm. WILL NEVER BE COMING BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT, food was rubbish and the service was worst. Better go to a much cheaper place and theres no shortage of nice and cheap restaurants in durham with first class customer service. Avoid at all cost!!!!!!

Outstanding service received last night especially from Demi. The food was delicious everything from starters right through to dessert. Breakfast was also lovely with a good variety of choice, again staff were excellent. Looking forward to our next visit
