Fish & chips twice, 2 peas, still one size only...very small, a little over £16.Average sized portion of fish and chips, chips were very good, the fish wasn't great and absolutely laden with fat, the fat actually soaked right through the box. That fish and chips is currently lying very heavily on my stomach.Very efficient service.

Best gluten free sausage and chips I have ever had.

Can't fault them. Very efficient service. Well cooked, fresh food. Didn't have to wait too long. Lovely! We'll definitely go again on our return to Barnard Castle in October.

We went last Wednesday and called into the fish and chips shop as we have done for a good few years, and we’ve always got the pensioner specials but sadly this time we were really disgusted with the size of the fish, over the past few months it seems as the fish is slowly shrinking, and we weren’t the only ones to comment on the size of the fish. Sadly we won’t be going back for a while if that’s what they are serving!

Fish and chips. A favourite up north down south east or west - it hits the spot. There's a senior citizens menu for the digestively compromised; a choice of cod or haddock with mushy peas a as well as of sauces and bread and butter (extras). Worth a visit. We enjoyed it anyways. Thanks again to Ben who brought us our meal in less than 5 mins of ordering. Worth a big tip. Very reasonable prices too!

This was probably the best fish and chips I've eaten ever. Chips was lovely and crispy and soft, the following fish in batter was so fresh. 100% would drive back to have these again.

Good little fish & chips place. Fish was moist and cooked well.Service was excellent, the waitress was very helpful and friendly. Staff were generous with their portion sizes and something I appreciated.Only downside, it was a bit plain for my taste. Maybe lack seasoning? Hard to say for something as simple as fish & chips.

If you want absolutely spectacular fish and chips then this is the place (plaice) to go. The portions really are huge, but the fish was on a whole other level and was akin to a small whale!! It was delicious and meaty with an excellent batter that wasn't soggy with grease, but had a beautiful crispy texture. Really good chunky chips, cooked to perfection. So lovely people at 149, thank you for making our wedding anniversary dinner a great success after being let down by a different restaurant. Next time we're in the area we'll definitely be back 🍴😊👍🏻

Tonight's tea disgusting the worst fish and chips we've had. I have tried calling them however they're unable to take a call either because they're busy or it's outside of their working hours, it can't be either of these!!

Saturday afternoon. Nobody deserves to be served up Friday nights fish. Recooked and killed for a second time. Shame on you!
