Waited 35 minutes for breakfast, asked if they'd forgotten about us, and were told that they hadn't even started cooking it......so we left.Didn't have the decency to waive the cost of the teas.Cannot recommend.

Well we got 2 Chicken burgers and there wasn't much chicken in them for £8 each I felt a bit cheated nice chips tho and one unsliced gurkin under the bun with salad dressing to sodden the bun to make it fall apart in ur hands so it can melt in ur mouth 😳 need to go back to drawing board still I'll support local business nevertheless

Sadly the worst cafe experience we've ever had.The waitress was very impersonal and had poor customer service skills. Our drinks were placed down on our table on the tray she brought it on and walked away. When we had been waiting for 40 minutes for our food I asked if she could check what was happening. She said she didn't think it would be long and didn't show any initiative to find out. When I asked her if she could go and check, she then returned with our cold food.Eggs Benedict with half a bread bun underneath that wasn't toasted therefore soggy. No bacon or ham.A full English with burnt toast and rubbery eggs. The best out of the three was a bacon sandwich which wasn't great either but after removing the fat was salvageable. When asked if everything was ok we expressed our disappointment. The chef asked how she could make it better however at this point we really just wanted to leave therefore we said we were just going to pay and go. The chef apologised and explained it had been a stressful morning. I'd like to think this was an unusual occurrence however the previous negative reviews speak volumes and in my opinion should NOT be ignored.

This place is a down-to-earth, genuine cafe. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and happy to have a laugh with their customers, especially in quiet times. The Alice in Wonderland theme runs throughout the decor, although not on the menu. The food is standard fare: beans on toast, full English, etc. Despite this, the food is excellently cooked and generously portioned. The pricing is reasonable so that you feel that you have had a decent feed at a good price. One suggestion I would make is to describe the contents of some of the menu so customers know what they are getting, particularly the vegetarian breakfast, for example. The vegetarian breakfast was well cooked and decently proportioned (which makes a nice change). The eggs had amazing large yolks, plenty of beans and a sausage I've never had before.

Went for a nice stroll around the castle at Bernard's Castle. This place is literally just around the corner and a lovely little gem of a place. Staff are extremely polite and the food was gorgeous. Tried the eggs benedict, which had a lovely slab of ham and perfectly poached eggs. Definitely recommend

We had an excellent lunch at the Mad Hatter's Tea Room; great service and delicious food. The chicken gyros and fish chowder were both superb, full of flavour and something a little different to the run of the mill choices on offer elsewhere.

Looking for somewhere that served Sunday lunch and came upon this place. Really glad that we did. Roast dinner was fabulous. All home cooked to order with huge Yorkshire's and loads of veg. Will definitely try Hatter's on another visit
