Maximo's Italian Restaurant in County Durham

The food was brilliant and we definitely got our money's worth and the staff are very friendly the atmosphere was cozy and alot of parking would recommend for a lovely evening out :)

First time here, great food, we pre ordered so it was pretty quick, all cooked really well. Friendly service, all very clean, can't fault it. Would definitely try if you like decent food with a good atmosphere.

Went without booking in advance. Never been before, good friendly service. Made to feel so welcome. Food was excellent. Have booked for a fortnight's time to try Sunday lunch. Highly recommended.

Returned to Maximos on Sunday for Sunday lunch which was totally delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection and the staff are always so attentive and very friendly. We were very well looked after by Laura, Jason and Abi, they couldn’t do enough for us. They were all great and the food was amazing, the beef was tender and tasty. I met a group of friends here a few weeks ago on a Tuesday and we pretty much had the restaurant to ourselves. I had the prawn cocktail starter and sirloin steak and it was absolutely delicious. Sam and Emma took really good care of us. Can’t wait to come back, see you soon Maximos!

Great meat vege separate, very professional service. Although not Italian by birth one of the young men could pass as one. Great Sunday Dinner

We've visited this restaurant on and off for many years and always found it to be excellent. Unfortunately this evenings visit was far from good. We realise and accept that there were staff shortages due to staff getting covid pinged but that is the restaurants problem to resolve and shouldn't impact on the service offered to the paying customer. Our table was booked for 6pm and we arrived 10 minutes early. We were asked to wait in the foyer and that was fair enough but we waited and waited. From ordering our meal to receiving our starters we waited 50 minutes, then another 45 minutes wait until our main course arrived. Some of our starters were then not available either. We did ask one of the staff about our wait and found her response to be quite abrupt and unpleasant. We were offered a round of drinks on the house. All- in- all a really poor experience, such a shame as the food is usually very good although this evening not as good as usual and staff certainly not as good. Some of the issues could have been resolved easily eg having dedicated staff member to a table. We brought friends with us this evening and found the whole experience very embarrassing as it was their first visit and we had told them how excellent it was, food and service wise.

Felt rushed by the staff tonight.. Asked if we wanted sweet board which of course we did came bk to take our order almost immediately... Asked if we could wait a bit for dinner to settle.. Another came seconds after and again after that.. Felt very rushed then one of our group left mid sweet to use bathroom and again girl came over to ask if that plate was finished! We where still all eating?! And his was clearly not finished! Then to top it off a girl came to take a glass away which again was still had wine in! .. And we where still all finishing our last drinks of the night.. Just felt rushed and annoyed... Food was spot on as always but hospitality tonight was bellow there normall standards.. Unhappy evening felt by all the group !

Excellent meal tonight with great varied menu.Attentive staff and spotless toilets.Very good value for money .Food cooked to perfection and well flavored.First visit for a couple of years with 2 of our friends who live nearby.Glad to say the standards haven't dropped and it was as good as if not better than the last time we visited.We will definitely return and recommend to our friends and neighbours.

We've. Been going to maximos for years.Took friends for a night out there..food as always was great. But the table service wasn't as good. Felt very rushed. The girls repeatedly coming to the table and wanting to remove plates. Even though we were still eating. One of our company got up to use the bathroom. girl came to the table to ask to remove his unfinished desert even though we were still eating our deserts. I hasn't put us off going again but. Not a nice experience tbh

We really love the restaurant and have been regular goers for the past couple of years. It’s very reasonably priced and the food is just amazing. The chefs have an obvious talent! Food is both scrumptious and well presented. All of the service staff are lovely and serve with a warm happy presence. Waiting times for foods are very acceptable and the restaurant it’s self is kept immaculately clean. It has a very welcoming and modern feel to the place and we could not recommend enough! 5 stars.
