New Board Inn in County Durham

Lovely food, with great portions, staff were really helpful and although it was busy it didn't feel manic. I'll definitely visit again.

Booked for a family meal a day in advance, also requesting a window table to enjoy the view. Arrived to no window table and placed at the back of the restaurant. We ordered drinks and sorted our meals out. When ready to place our order, all but one was available, then we were told many of the mains we wanted were not available either. When asked why we could not have been told earlier, it was advised it was too many people to contact. I would rather have received the call than arrive and not have what I want to eat. Poor management leaving staff to deal with the complaints.

Went as a family of 6 for a pre booked meal over the Christmas period, ordered our drinks and proceeded to order our food, everything we wanted they didn’t have, to say we were shocked and disappointed is an understatement. We decided to finish our drinks and go elsewhere. On paying for the drinks a member of our party asked why we weren’t informed that the menu was reduced the young girl said ‘we can’t phone everyone’. Well actually yes you can, you all kept setting tables for more unfortunate guests when one of you could have been ringing customers. Granted it’s not service staff who control the food orders but it is their responsibility to inform customers of changes, before they sit down if half the menu is off. If you’re reading this, go to The Three Horseshoes at Maiden Law instead

We love this place never had a bad meal there so when we finally had a chance to go kid free we decided to go for the steak ... had great expectations but unfortunately we were disappointed. They were gristly tasteless tough and overcooked. It cost £59.10 for 2 steaks 2 cokes and a sticky toffee pudding (Scrumy). We will go back but not for the steak....

Friendly staff food nice as well as hot had a lovely birthday meal

Really enjoyed the meal, but apart from the initial drinks order, we had to ask for everything else. The staff were friendly and polite, but we had to ask them for drinks, ask for desserts, ask for the bill etc. The only time they took the initiative was to tell us it was last orders. We would still visit again as perhaps it was the first shift for some of the staff, but surely it would be beneficial for the pub to ask if we were interested in desserts when they cleared the table after our main courses.

Very pleasant seating to include to small dogs allowed. Serving staff pleasant. Good menu with plenty of variety. Unfortunately my salmon and crayfish were a little overcooked which took the edge off. Would definitely return for another go.

Had a fabulous lunch with friend. Second visit this month, will return. Food excellent, service fab and friendly and didnt have to wait long.

Heard a lot of great things about this place so we came and I’m so glad we did as we have now been a good few time’s and I’ve got something different nearly everytime because the menu is just amazing with so much to chose from, everything I’ve had has all been delicious with great portion sizes and also very reasonably priced. I also came here for the Sunday carvery which was also gorgeous, demolished every scrap. Lovely warm atmosphere and very clean. The staff are very welcoming and pleasant. Couldn’t recommend this place enough😍🍗🥘.
