Allowed us to bring in Indian takeaway to eat there as we had walked for miles and other pub wasn't serving food. Friendly staff and excellent value drinks. Highly recommended.

Great old traditional village pub, very friendly management & staff. We’ve been coming here for the last few years after buying a caravan here. We loved the place so much, we sold our place in the city & bought a small cottage here in the village. The Pack Horse Inn being one of the factors for our decision to move here. It is all you could wish for in a local pub. Very reasonable prices, very friendly staff, dog friendly with a sun trap of a beer garden out the back. 10/10

Very friendly local and bar staff.Visited with our daughter 2 weeks ago. Steve the taxi driver was really helpful picking us up from Heather view and taking us back from the pack horse.

Can't fault the pub. Always attracts a great, friendly bunch of 'punters' which says a lot about the place. Very well priced for the area and has a good selection of drinks - real ales and the popular on-draught lagers, too. Also nice choice with the wines, soft drinks etc.There's a beer garden out back and a pleasant little seating area out the front. The pub has a dart board if you fancy stepping up to the oche, and a pool table that's been fairly recently re-surfaced, I believe, so that makes for a good few frames as well. There's karaoke too, if that's your thing!The staff are always lovely, and you get to know all of them well as they're always happy to chat with you.**I've had no need to stay in the B&B upstairs so cannot comment on that**

Best pub in Stanhope, with warm welcoming staff, a great friendly environment full of smiles. With accommodation to a high standard and great prices, you really can’t complain! In the winter time enjoy blazing fires in the bar and lounge, and in the summer enjoy the beer garden out back. Both family and pet friendly! We enjoyed a lovely drink in the beer garden on our last visit with the best bar snacks to offer. Our little dog was also greatly welcomed, to which she was even given a fresh bowl of water. A really great place! Would highly recommend ☺️

Absolutely love this pub. Super cosy and friendly staff. Most of the locals are friendly too which makes the atmosphere fantastic. I work in a pub myself and this is the place I go when I have time off. Great fun on a weekend with karaoke, and themed parties throughout the year. A good meet up spot with my friends and great tasting beer. (and rhubarb gin!) cheers!!
