Smashing little cafe for lunch. Paninis were lovely and I recommend the cafetiere of Java.... And cheaper than Costa or Starbucks....

Visited the arts centre bought some vinyl LP's and went looking for a chippie. Ended up at the 149 (is it a prime?) and ordered haddock a chips with bread and butter. Pot of tea and the fabulous service from Ben who saw to our every need...maincourse for 2 all for £22 ...Long live the North of England.

Good food and good service and its dog friendly. Just to update my original review I have now been here more than 20 times and the food and service is really very good. The breakfast in particular is outstanding.

Great little tearoom if your looking for somewhere to eat & drink indoors with your dog. They have a vast menu at reasonable prices & portions are large, Staff are polite & dogs are welcomed with a treat. Lovely place will use again when we visit Barnard Castle.

Dropped in during our walk along the Teesdale Way from Ovington, just what we needed after a soggy start. Nice an warm, comfortable upstairs and the young staff were a delight and credit to the cafe. Efficient service, bringing a generously portioned baguette and chips, fuel for the way back, thank you for a warm welcome.

Staff were friendly and very helpful in this lovely little tea room and restaurant. Meals were of good portion sizes and definitely good value. They have a small but lovely garden to the rear of the premises access by a little alley to the side of the main entrance. Don't be put off if the downstairs looks busy, they have a room upstairs too. Definitely worth calling in, even if you just want a tea/coffe

Lovely staff, upstairs and downstairs seating and dog friendly. Food came out a bit too quick, had toasties which was a bit soggy and chips not fully cooked in middle. Lovely cake selection and and hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows. Definitely worth a visit.

A good spot for lunch. Pretty busy, but I didn't have to wait particularly for anything - the coffee was pretty much instantaneous. The sandwich was pretty reasonable, although the sausage did make a bid for freedom, but was foiled by some quick finger work.The only thing I'd say to improve things is that I didn't realise there was an upstairs until I heard it mentioned to some people who came in after me. In fairness, there was a table downstairs for me.to sit at, which I did. That said, I'd have preferred to be a bit further from the door just to keep away from the cooler air coming in whenever anyone else came in or went out. There _is_ a notice about the upstairs seating, but it sort of fades into the background: if it was just that bit more visible, that would be perfect...

Great selection of food at a good price.Nice atmosphere & very friendly happy staff.Seemed really popular with regular locals meeting for food & coffees, which is always a good sign.
