Highly overpriced, even for a service station. Great staff but the expense makes it worth skipping up to Washington. Greggs on site which is a bonus though, although you have to queue outside.

I love this place, I go approx 4 times a week (6 miles from home). I'm 70 years old and have travelled and eaten inlots of Different Countries. Am talking McDonald's, There Big Mac & Medium Fries always Delicious and if you spend a couple of minutes filling the Survey in ( ask staff ) you get it for £1,99 normally over £4. The other Big Plus is Aga ( I think she is the Area Manager ) has to be thanked as the Place is so clean, The Food is always Yummy and The Staff are all lovely. I used to have a High Street Mortgage Brokerage so Know only to well how important good Staffing is rather than Than Feeling Your Being Patronised. Could I just Say it's always a Pleasure to go there and made to feel Welcome. As I said earlier I am well travelled and This McDonald's has the "Most Pleasant and Competant Staff" I have Ever Met. Macdonald's drive through was a bit slow. Road layout is a bit tricky, especially at night and if you haven't been there lately.

Visited on route to Edinburgh. Are at the McDs.Service was very good but wait times were very long as were the queue.There was a lady on the restroom who was very friendly and polite. Made my mums day.

Quiet for a Monday Moring few Newcastle fans in McDonalds on the way home from the Match. Staff really helpful and apologised for the wait for a vegie rap, gave us a free bottle of water due to long wait.Lady in WHSmiths. very helpful and friendly a real star to the company (Sorry didn't get her name ,but she was going to a rock concert with her daughter on sunday! , Overall great service station

Even in great weather I managed to drive in the wrong way and detoured round the fuel station and, doubtful of the road markings giving a short cut back to the car park, headed out & down to the Amazon roundabout (and yet another expensive coffee outlet) before a second attempt; little realising I'd need to go down there again later to get back to the A1. Nice services but the most contorted narrow passageway to get into the washroom! Car park itself is amongst the most straightforward layouts of any motorway services.
