After only been around this village for 6 years I have never and I mean never been in this take away shop but last night that all change I put my best foot forward and enter this take away shop and I was not disappointed I can honestly say that it goes above and beyond a take away the food was amazing and the server was a very nice and welcoming will be 100% coming back to this amazing placeThanks youRoots of IndiaTeamXxx

Telephone order at 1816, told it would be ready at 1900. Arrived to collect but wasn't ready until 1930. Chicken Passanda tasted like chicken in yogurt and turmeric sauce (not marinaded) with about 3 cashew nuts, Sheekh Nan Kebab and Chicke tikka nan kebab dry and poorly spiced. Deadly was due to "a problem with the nan" - probably because it hadn't been cooked until I got there!

Done a lot of travelling around Indian and the food from roots of India is on par with some of the best Indian cuisine I’ve had this place is a little gem wish it was my local takeaway it’s a shame we are just here on holiday

We planned to eat at Bonnie Moorhen but kitchen was closed. We ordered takeaway and the amazing staff at the Pack Horse Inn gave us crockery to sit and eat in there. Food was delicious but huge portions so beware when ordering as we wasted about half of it which was a shame.

Stunning Indian food. Had 3 meals here when staying for 2 weeks. Good vegetarian choices and gluten free as well. Totally recommended

Not to be missed! An amazing little gem hidden away in the North Pennines!! Our favourite take away. Food is absolutely top notch here and the staff are really friendly. I have tried a lot of Indian food and this one is the absolute best, better than a lot of restaurants we’ve been in!!!

Best Indians I've had in County Durham, straight up.Pathia was absolutely delicious with beautiful sweet and sour flavours.Garlic naan baked with fresh coriander.Everything was perfect.Stunning food. He'd make a fortune in Durham City.👌

Been coming here since last month. I had the Chicken Khakri which was amazing. My new favourite dish. Ordered via the online app. Came in shop and was ready on time. Service and food always spot on.Shocked at the last review by 'Anthony and Emma Lee' Seems like the Roots Of India done a favour by calling and advising the order wouldn't be ready? Everyone knows refunds are not always instant and is to do with the bank? I also ordered online myself and CHOSE 30 mins but when i checked my confirmation email it stated it would be ready in 45 mins.

We (Debbie & Kev) have been using this Indian for over 2 years now and it is exceptional. I have been through the menu and always ask for spicy hot - which they always deliver on ! You must try this Restaurant !

really good indian take away. we had chicken karma and chicken tikka masala one day ... really tasty then two days later went back for more and I had a lamb methi which wasn't on the menu but they still did it and again really good.
