South Causey Inn in County Durham

Went to a Wedding here yesterday, absolutely had a great time day and night. Staff very friendly and helpful. Place was well presented. Could not knock it. Food was top notch and well presented with plenty of it, big portions. We just had a fabulous day and night. Fantastic.

I took my husband for the gentleman's afternoon tea at £25 per person. Well worth the price for what you get. Would highly recommend this as an alternative to regular afternoon tea. It had bacon and sausage sandwiches and a battered mars bar, absolutely delicious. There was so much food we had to box it up and take it home. We have also had lunch time and evening meals here on other occasions and the food is always delicious and the staff very friendly.

Absolutely amazing venue, so quirky and interesting. Visited on Bank Holiday for a date with my hubby, had the daily roast. Was OK, gravy somewhat bland and the veg a little too underdone for my taste. Coffee and caramel slice was lush! Would visit again but will try another dish next time.

The bar was very nice . However the menu on the table was paper , tatty and dirty looking, not what I was expecting. We had to ask for an alternative tea, coffee cake menu as this was not offered .Service was good.The surrounding gardens and other amenities were lovely.

Excellent food and even better customer service. The team were extremely helpful in identifying menu choices despite multiple allergies both ahead of time via email, and then on the day. Will definitely be back!

Stopped off for food not knowing much about the place. Had an amazing experience. Great drinks, amazing food and tasty desert. You pay for what you get and the service was great. It is dog friendly 🐾.I was then made aware of the hotel rooms, they look great. I'll definitely be looking to hook up in the future.

Yesterday my partner and I went for afternoon tea at the South Causey Inn. Although the food was nice the atmosphere was poor. The two main wait staff seemed bored and disinterested and I don't think either of them cracked a smile once. We asked to order additional drinks and these never arrived so ultimately we decided to pay and left. I won't be in a rush to return as there are far better places in the area.

We booked a pod and had afternoon tea, there was a mix of traditional and gent's. Both were tasty however the gent's had our partners trying to steal pieces from our board. There was table service for drinks and also noted the pods were pet friendly, as others had theirs with them. All round a great afternoon with friends and family.

We popped in after a lovely day of hanging around in Beamish. The staff where really nice and helpful. We had several food ordered as we where 4 of us and I have to admit that the food was spot on. Great service, great food and good experience. I would recommend this place.

Had a family gathering here this afternoon for our grandads wake. The gentleman in charge of taking care of us was brilliant so efficient got everyone hot drinks kept them refilled sorted food and cakes out and was there if anyone needed anything. Thankyou for making a difficult day easier. The food was beautiful too.
