Spice Island in County Durham

Arrived at 7pm on New Years Eve as per booking. One other table occupied. Later 2 other couples arrived so in total 4 tables occupied.Room was freezing so had to ask them to put heating on.Had to ask them to put some music on.Had to ask for some drinks. No waiter service whatsoever.Ordered food for 4 of us around 7:30pm. An hour later no food had arrived. Another table complained and suggested they should be bringing out poppadoms so we got some of those with the pickle tray, waitress dropped it on the table and spilled over table cloth and husband.By 9pm we chased our food order as no one had been updating us. The other table of 8 people had also received no food.The restaurant kept taking takeaway orders over the phone but was not at all concerned about the 4 occupied tables in the restaurant, all of which had received no food in 2 hours.Eventually we left the restaurant after over 2 hours, having not received our meals.They had the good grace not to charge us for the drinks we’d had, however no apologies and no explanations.Will never return to this restaurant as the service was non existent and the limited staff were not interested at all.

Beautiful tasting meals .The chef should be praised good job highly recommended place to visit you won't be disappointed

Food was great and on time.. however... the delivery man was disgraceful. So rude and literally upset me to the point I couldn't even eat my meal!!!

Dreadful service, 2 hours sat waiting for any food to be served, too busy serving takeaway customers to care about resteraunt, walked out without eating, not ideal on New Years Eve, won't be back.

I would not recommend at all !!! Tnyt my Indian was cold! Chips would of chipped me teeth! Keema nan was burned! Whole dish was awfull ,when I rang them the receptionist laughed at me down the phone thought it was funny !!! Customer service second to none then😡 spoke to the manager no sorry at all but will take money of next time don't think so ..........

Great service. Wide range of flavours. Tasted so fresh and meat was very very tender. Keema garlic naan was something else.

Stumbled across this place whilst visiting the area, and without a doubt the nicest Indian food we've had. Great value, lovely, friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend and return.

Had our 1st take away from here Sunday evening. Food was very nice but surprised that poppoadoms came without pickles. Poppadoms in there own??? Still very nice though and will use again
