Had burgers instead of fish and chips enjoyed by both if us

Visited stanton’s and asked what their “veggie options” were. They told me they offered mozzarella sticks and chips. I then immediately paid after agreeing to order that. They then made me wait about 30minutes after serving all the none veggie customers before me. 30 minutes after I ordered and complained about the waiting time, I saw them take out freezed mozarella sticks and put it in the fish oil at the same time as they put in a sausage. Once they took it out and gave it to me, I told them I felt uncomfortable eating a “veggie” meal that’s been cooked with fish and meat. I then tried it and it all tasted like battered fish. They told me I should’ve explicitly told them beforehand I did not want my food cooked with non veggie items. I found this ridiculous as I’d obviously asked for a vegetarian option and they’d recommended me one. They refused to change it and made me feel embarrassed about my standards instead. My friends then complained about it and the staff told them to, and I quote “fuck off”. I am extremely disappointed with the service - they do not cater to veggies and will hide it unless you catch them red handed .

Always great grub from stations. We order from there when we want a takeaway tried others but so far no comparison to stantons

Friendly staff and first class service. I have had better fish and chips but had lots worse too. Probably second best in Durham but far cheaper than the other one. Chips were well cooked, battered fish was nice, chunky cod full of flavour only slightly let down by the size of the fish under the batter. But overall nice. Would definitely buy again.

Ordered two fish and chips and a small meal for my daughter. I placed the order at midday and was given an estimated delivery time of 1.55pm which is fair enough on Good Friday. Still not with us by 2.15pm so tried to call; phone constantly engaged so I suspect it's off the hook. Get a text to tell me it's now expected at 3.30pm. Really poor service all round.

Very rude people, when ask for salt on vinegar on ficha n ships, did not brother tolift the fish n putbin onnyhe chips too. Had to remind server to put on both orders, as One already wraped eventhough i had requested sal n vinegar. They were very quiet. Fish not very fresh or flaky.🤪

My go to fish and chip shop. Always spot on for me, good quality fish and reasonably priced. Only been in the shop once which was a good couple year ago now so can’t really comment on that. Also the fish is sometimes very greasy but nothing too much to complain about, it still gets devoured!🐟.

Best fish and chip shop in the North East. Reasonable prices, high quality food and cracking customer service. This company deserves more credit than it’s getting. A mile ahead of the fancy shop down the street, why would anyone choose that scam when better value better quality food is available 15 yards up the street. Amazing. Stanton’s ‘TIL I die.

I've only had the takeaway so can't comment on delivery. The fish and chips have always been really nice. Much better than others in Durham. I found the staff were fine. No complaints.

Must be the worst chip shop I have been to in my life!! Fish and chips swimming in grease !!!
