Quite expensive, food is very well presented but overall lacking any real quality. The crackers on the cheese board were like plywood.We visited in a large group and were seated in a separate room to the main restaurant which was quite cold and lacked any atmosphere.Wine selection is good.

Friendly helpful staff and tasty dishes from a set menu. They also offered another beef dish from the main menu as they had run out of steak on special. Seabass was delicious too

Enjoyed the lunch menu.Very reasonably priced, great tasting food.Lovely views over the river.One of the best afternoons I've had in a long time.

Just been for a posh lunch here for our friend's Birthday.Never had food as good even in some 5* hotels.Unusual and inventive menus.Everything delicious and beautiful presented.Highly recommend if you are in the area.Staff and cleanliness A1 too!Thanks again.We'll be back!

What an amazing restaurant! This is a proper hidden jem which serves fantastic food, one of those places that you wished they were where you live. I had goat cheese and melon for starter and Jerusalem artichokes risotto with black truffle. My husband had scotch eggs for starter and seabass for main. Everything was cooked with a twist but cooked to perfection. The prices are actually very reasonable for those high standards they have. Really our compliments to the chef(s)!

Loved this place. Booked for 2pm lunch and asked if we could push back till later, which was no problem. Hidden gem just off Sadler Street. All the waiting staff were so friendly, welcoming, professional and polite. Took a while to place our order but we weren’t in a hurry. We were asked if we had any allergies or dietary needs which is so refreshing to hear. Both the drinks and food were amazing. Our table overlooked the river and bridge which was beautiful. I was particularly impressed to see have thoroughly the staff washed the tables and chairs after guests. Great value also. We were surprised to see they have a herb and vegetable garden at the back which is great to see.

Delicious sunday roast (lamb) which came with yummy sides. Chocolate fondant was decadent. Very happy with the food. Service meant it didn't get 5 stars. My dessert came before my main, waited for my real dessert too long, and the bill wasn't correct.

Food was amazing, just happened to stumble across this place and so glad we did, the steak was cooked to absolute perfection and Alex the waitress was super friendly and very helpful.The outdoor terrace is beautiful if you get chance to dine there.Thank you.

Perfect weekday lunch on the outside deck with the other half in celebration of our wedding anniversary. We dined from the a la carte menu however saw a few things pass by from the lunch menu which looked divine. The food and service were impeccable as always and 2 relaxing hours passed by without us noticing. Highly recommend the pigeon starter and beef wellington main. We love how hidden away this place is, tucked right in the heart of the historic Durham peninsula though accessibility is the sacrifice with the entrance down a multitude of steep, narrow steps. Tip?... If you're a first time visitor with any concerns about access I'd call ahead before booking. Covid safety?... Pretty good. My only gripe was the lack of social distancing signposting for guests queuing for the only ladies toilet though the arising issue was more a thoughtless guest's fault than anything else.

Ordered an Afternoon Tea for delivery, for my birthday. Absolutely delicious and worth the money. Delivery was prompt and friendly. Food was packaged well to be delivered. Everything was homemade and really tasty. Every option we'd chosen was there. There was a really good selection to choose from. Can't recommend highly enough. (*Cake stand is out own)
