The Fir Tree in County Durham

Had a fabulous time here from checking inn to leaving,the evening meal and breakfast was excellent top quality massive portion's at excellent price's, Karen and her staff even the customers was so friendly made us feel so welcome, the room smelt lovely was so cosy bed and bedding high quality it had everything you needed tea,coffee, TV, hairdryer.shampoo even body wash.on the Plus side delighted to say fir tree country hotel we will be back thank you for the perfect stay 😊😊

We where visiting the area and booked for the carvery for Sunday lunch what a little gem of a place the food was amazing all fresh and the selection of meats just melted in your mouth wish we had discovered this place earlier in our stay in the area The chef on the carvery was a really nice guy very friendly which made our dining experience more enjoyable we will be back very soon

Our family ate at the restaurant last night. Food was lovely but the experience less so. Prior to meal moving us around the bar area and splitting the part up into 2 separate areas. Staff were rude and irritable, eye rolling and snappy. Not all Staff I might add. We were made to feel constantly in the way and not welcome. We had booked and were expected as a large party it was a shame it tainted our experience and certainly made us feel as though we were an inconvenience

Breakfast with santa was absolutely amazing. From start to finish a real treat for both us the grandparents + 3 grandkids. Top quality breakfast attentive & professional staff, santa was great & kids loved their presents. Highly recommended can't wait til next year

Fantastic place, fantastic food, Fantastic service!!!! The lady who seated us deserves a crown! She got us fast, delicious, and perfectly cooked steaks in 5 minutes. Amazing. She was lovely. I would recommend this place to anyone. Absolutely nailed it. A Jen 10 out of 10. 😃

The Sunday carvery was the best Sunday lunch I have had in a long while. Portion sizes as big or small as you like. And prices are very reasonable.

Very nice fresh look with welcoming friendly staff.Brief one night stay here didn't plan to have an evening meal as we were visiting family but it came strongly recommended by them.Food was excellent and catered amicably for gluten free.Room was spotless with a powerful shower and a good night sleep followed.Strongly recommend.

Brilliant. Very much improved since new owners. Food and service excellent. Asked to see updated accommodation and it was no trouble by staff as we stayed there before the updated rooms were complete.

Driving past and popped in. Greeted warmly, shown to our table and drinks ordered. Too much good stuff to make up my mind, but eventually plumped for cod and chips with mushy peas and tartar sauce and my friend ordered the steak pie with mash gravy and veg. The servings were extremely large and my fish had crisp light batter with chunky fluffy chips. The steak pie was about 3" thick with short crust pastry top and bottom and large pieces of prime steak inside. The veg were al dente, the mash creamy but the gravy was watery and tasteless. The pudding menu looked to have many choices but we were stuffed! The setting was lovely, modern light and clean and the staff were very friendly. I would recommend this place to families, friends and couples.
