The Fir Tree Country Hotel in County Durham

Went for tea here and was not very impressed by the food. The interior was beautiful, no complaints about staff or anything else. Just expected more from the food!

Lovely looking place but the food was below average for us, we are local to the area and for the prices of meals the food was poor. We are in a holiday location so I'm sure if your away from a town then being out in the country its nice food and serivce and great selection of drink from the bar but if your wanting more than a pint I'd try other options if you like your good food, i.e duke of York is walking distance and is absolutely fantastic all round never had a bad meal similar pricing..Shame really as won't be going again..

We had an absolutely perfect stay here. The hotel and the bedrooms were immaculate. Staff went out of their way to assist with my disabled mum. Everyone was great, especially Sammy and Ali, both went above and beyond. Lovely relaxed breakfast both mornings, plenty of choice and extremely well cooked. The rooms were spotless. Well worth the rates we paid. The staff and the place in general are a real credit to the owners. You really cannot improve on perfect. Thank you all so much, we'll definitely be back again soon.

Didn't stay at this location but went for drinks. Friendly and very competent staff. Made to feel welcome and very good service

Very clean and dog friendly, food is amazing as are the staff. The rooms are spotlessly clean and contain all the little extras such as hairdryer etc. It is worth visiting just to meet the amazing team that make this place a truly hospitable venue. All of the staff make you feel as though you are a member of the family.

Always sharp service here. Nice beer garden, even if it backs onto a road. Good atop off point if on the A68. Small tight car park, but street parking Always available. Staropramen on tap, Always a plus!

Lovely Hotel and restaurant mum and dad are staying there , the rooms very modern and clean with all latest fittings .The restaurant is superb the food is amazing all home cooked / baked with quality ingredients , and the staff are all very friendly there is a nice relaxed atmosphere at the Fir Tree we will definitely be visiting again 🙂

Had a fabulous time here from checking inn to leaving,the evening meal and breakfast was excellent top quality massive portion's at excellent price's, Karen and her staff even the customers was so friendly made us feel so welcome, the room smelt lovely was so cosy bed and bedding high quality it had everything you needed tea,coffee, TV, hairdryer.shampoo even body wash.on the Plus side delighted to say fir tree country hotel we will be back thank you for the perfect stay 😊😊

We where visiting the area and booked for the carvery for Sunday lunch what a little gem of a place the food was amazing all fresh and the selection of meats just melted in your mouth wish we had discovered this place earlier in our stay in the area The chef on the carvery was a really nice guy very friendly which made our dining experience more enjoyable we will be back very soon

Fantastic place, fantastic food, Fantastic service!!!! The lady who seated us deserves a crown! She got us fast, delicious, and perfectly cooked steaks in 5 minutes. Amazing. She was lovely. I would recommend this place to anyone. Absolutely nailed it. A Jen 10 out of 10. 😃
