Food was good. Staff were friendly enough. No baby change facilities outside of the ladies toilets though which is not ideal in this day and age. As a bloke I was unable to change my son's nappy.

Where do I start, as others have mentioned the place itself is like an afternoon with Marty McFly, dated, bare, rundown and cold. Poor food that was absolutely warmed via microwave, bland and not worth the price paid. Staff/Landlord not particularly welcoming and we were made to feel like a chore to be served. Wont be returning and have since found the Blue Bell to be a far, far friendlier establishment.

Only popped in to use the loo's as the ones in the village were padlocked shut.Still, we had a swift half. It was like stepping back into a 70's pub. Old "rocker" landlord, a few old gadgies in the corner mumbling away to each other, TV showing snooker, no heating, that's all there is to say really. Not bad, not brilliant either.

Good service, friendly, pleasant, not overpriced, but food average at best. Steak pie had lots of meat, but not enough gravy, however microwaving a flaky pastry pie top is unforgivable - gave it the texture of hardboard!

Pleasant young lady that served our drinks and then showed us to our table. We had booked for the Sunday lunch. No menu available, just asked if we wanted "Beef, Pork or Ham". The meal arrived within 4 minutes, best described as a school dinner with a tray of warmed up vegetables. Roast potatoes consisted of half an average sized potato cut in 2...per person! Sorry but I wouldn't recommend eating here again. Doesnt represent the photo of the lunch on the website.

Good traditional pub grub. Small menu could have done with more choice. Kids portions are huge and went a down treat. Fairly priced. Decor a bit dated and faded but otherwise welcoming. Service was top notch and even from behind the masks there were smiles. Good pace to service and was advised on the best time to come in as they were expecting a large party. Would visit again if ever in the area.

A great pub. Thoroughly enjoyed Sunday lunch here yesterday with 4 of us and 2 dogs. All of us were well loomed after and the simple food was splendid, filling, and well presented. Staff were all lovely and we all left stuffed! Apple crumble and custard (low gluten) were absolutely yummy...recommended!

Visiting this pub with parents and grandparents over the years was always a nice change of scene. After 2 years away due to covid it was nice to be back. Not too busy as it wasn't peak summer holiday season, but definitely recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment in late July and August. It's a pub popular with locals and tourists alike.Amazing selection of gins, which made my girlfriend very happy. The food is just as it should be, a dozen or so dishes done well with quality ingredients. It's definitely filling, which is a problem as the desserts are great. Even a days hill walking might not be enough to have built up enough of an appetite.

Stayed in the coach house accommodation and had lunch, dinner and breakfast at The Golden Lion. We only stayed for 1 night but wished we could have stayed for longer. Loved every bit of our stay, just idyllic. Friendly staff, good food, comfy accommodation in a beautiful location.

Really nice people at the pub & very accommodating. The on tap ales hit the spot. Currently booking ahead for food is the thing to do as I found out. There is a bike night on a Wednesday ( don't turn up in your lycra for this one).
