A very good experience on my visit, the food and wine was very nice and the restaurant had a very modern vibe. Very comfortable. If anything, the service was a tad on the slow side, there seemed to be a bit of inexperience/lack of training, but generally okay.

Had late lunch today with party of 12 for my wife’s birthday. All of the Food was excellent, good service and nice atmosphere. The special deals are good value and would recommend the flat iron steaks for two with wine.

Very Average at best.Dreadful service, one of worst I’ve encountered at a restaurant. We ordered drinks for wine to appear without the beer. Had to ask for beer and wait ages for drink. Didnt have certain choices from menu at 7:30pm, can understand at 9:30 if it had been busy but early evening no excuse.Ordered glass of wine to have with meal that didn’t arrive till finished meal. Steak arrived with no steak knife and finally got one after I’d eaten steak. Staff all seemed to just stand about and no sense of urgency. It’s certainly gone downhill a lot since it opened. The quality of food was average however not it’s not overly expensive so I guess you get what you pay for. Restaurant itself is set out nice but that’s as far as it goes. Far better places to eat.

Seems to be going downhill. It was extremely busy and the service wasn’t great. Prawn cocktail stater was absolutely tiny. Frozen prawns with hardly any taste. The main course was great ( that’s why I have given 3 stars, otherwise it would have been 1). We asked for the bill and the wrong bill arrived. It just doesn’t feel the same as it used to, it’s blending in just like any other restaurant.

Nice staff and welcoming decor. The food was okay but I was underwhelmed by the crispy duck starter. The mussels were ok but the French fries tasted of oil. My daughter loved her creme brulee but thought the steak was just average it was served with a bunch of watercress and fries. For the price a wider selection of vegetables should have been proferred.

Shocking avoid! We went for a meal for my son's birthday. We waited about 25 minutes for someone to take our drinks order (in the end I had to ask someone), a further 10 to 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive (and longer still for the glasses for the bottled water). Eventually someone came to take our order (by this time we’d been in the restaurant about 40 minutes and a large number of staff had walked passed our table and ignored us). Three of us wanted items from the Specials board, however we were told that there were no specials on (only a burger!). So after a few minutes deliberation we all chose something else – only to be told in turn that there was no pork belly or chicken. At that point I asked for the bill for the drinks, paid cash and left. I have never done that before, I have never left a negative review before, but the service here was shocking. If you don’t have Specials on wipe them off the blackboard – it only takes a moment. If you’ve run out of something on the menu tell people when you hand out the menu! The staff are all very young and obviously untrained. Massively over-rated venue, we have often gone there for drinks, but never again.

Had a 3 course meal from the Sunday lunch menu. Starters were great. Main course, the only thing on the plate that had flavour was the mash which was delicious. Meat was okay however we felt that was more down to the cut. The roast potatoes should come with a warning of potentially needing new teeth, which was not worth it for the flavour of stale potato which we observed had sat at the hot counter for half the duration of our time there, aswell as the carrots and other foods which let's this place down massively in my opinion as you can really taste the difference.Immediately after leaving this place I've had sickness and believe it to be from the main course. Its clear the staff need more training in basic customer service skills from the management.Very disappointed to have experienced this as the place itself looks great, unfortunately the skills to follow need upgrading.

The rooms are brilliant, a lot of character and I would recommend to family and friends based on the character the room has and how private this is. However, no one explains how to use the hot tub and when arriving it was freezing cold. We eventually worked out how to get it on then set off for dinner and when we got back due to it being off for so long the hot tub was simply not hot enough. I’d expect if the hotel know that room is going to be occupied, surely you would switch this on ready for the arrival of guests.Once at dinner we found the food menu was quite basic and not a lot of choice. We couldn’t find a starter that we wanted but as you are forced to eat at the restaurant because you get given £70 for it within the price of the room, and there is not an option to just pay a room rate at a lower cost without the restaurant. I ordered scallops as my partner couldn’t find anything she wanted and when it came it had a curry sauce over the scallops which I found very strange. I don’t recall if it’s written on the menu it comes with the scallops which I could of asked without that sauce I suppose but it totally killed the starter. The main came which I ordered fillet steak which I asked for medium rare. I often eat at miller and carter and the impeccable pig menu is more expensive than miller so I expected a similar experience but it could not of been further. I had to send the steak back as it was almost blue on my plate. I showed the waitress who also agreed that was no where near medium rare. My partner got the chicken Milanese which the yellow risotto ruined her meal also and would not recommend that dish to anyone. We had room service for breakfast which turned up ten minutes late, which is fine as I understand there are other guests to attend to also but we were missing water and toast off off what we ordered and my partners avocado on toast was freezing cold and the toast was stale on her plate. I had the mushrooms on a English muffin with the Hollandaise sauce which also came cold and the muffin had been left out where it went hard as it had been out for so long. Both left the breakfast as it was inedible. I ended up eating the yogurt just to have something. The room itself and the staff very polite, as for the dinning food and breakfast far from satisfactory and needs a huge improvement

I purchased a voucher as a gift for my Dads 70th Birthday, He stayed in the Whole Hog and if you've found this review, I'm sure you know the price of staying specifically in this room. So I'll start with the positives. The room was gorgeous, private use of the hot tub and sauna was w real treat. The the evening meal and breakfast was delicious. Unfortunately, there were some housekeeping and maintenance issues, the towels had some stains and the dressing robes were thread bare and in desperate need of replacement. The bin in the bathroom was broken and the rug was curling up in the main walkway from the bedroom to the bathroom, which frankly is a health and safety hazard. In my opinion the management potentially need to quality check the standards of the rooms and facilities to ensure guests have a 'impeccable' stay.My my dad raised his concerns with the reception who advised him to speak to the management in the morning, which he did and was told that a different manager would call him back the next morning, unfortunately he did not receive this call. When my dad called back, the GM told him that he forgot to call him. He was then offered 15% off his next day which my Dad explained he was not happy with as he would not be spending another stay as it was a gift, the manager responded with 'that's all you're getting'.My dad was not offered an apology. He was not offered an explanation as to how the management were going to prevent these issues from happening again, so all in all the customer service was also not all that 'impeccable'.This was intended to be an extra special experience for my Dads birthday which is disappointing to see the least.
