Good food. Very friendly staff. Reasonable prices.

The quality of the food and service was excellent, making the price you pay seem fair. A lovely place for a good meal.

I ate at the Italian Farmhouse this evening with my family for my son's 7th birthday. It was a massively disappointing experience. We were served 1st drinks, 20 minutes later informed of a further 30 minute wait for food. The kids were hungry, we asked if there was bread or a few breadsticks to keep them going. We were told no problem, they didn't arrive. After the 30 minute wait, the starters arrived. We waited 25 minutes more for the main courses. The majority of tables were having a similar experience but at no point did a staff member acknowledge the situation, apologise and seek to make amends. During the longest part of the wait, we weren't even asked if we would like another drink. We eventually had to ask - twice. The atmosphere was subdued, staff looked lost and fed up and bothered that customers didn't seem particularly happy to wait long periods for food. The front of house team were inexperienced with the exception of the manager, small touches were missed such as the offer of parmesan cheese and pepper with pasta dishes, our server told us the wine we ordered wasn't available but couldn't tell us what the replacement actually was he'd put down on the table. After 2 hours of this, we gave up and didn't order the ice creams on the kids menu and our son, whose birthday it was simply said "can we go home." We gave him candles and cake at home instead. When it came to paying the bill, our order had been split across two bills. When it was finally located, the full amount was charged and an apology offered. The manageress then intervened and deducted the cost of the kids food to her credit. Ultimately, a family birthday meal that should have been about making happy memories turned into a frustrating ordeal. Everyone has tough days at work but this was way below acceptable standard.

Let's start this off by saying I HATE italian resteraunts because 95% serve majority pizza/pasta or chicken dishes... none of which is appealing to myself I like more flavour and complex dishes. Italian farmhouse in Rainton amazed me ! I LOVE seafood and they had a few different dishes for seafood and a few steak varieties. The chips were 9/10 lovely they were!! And my mussels I got in the tomato and chilli sauce were delicious!! A little small but definitely delicious nonetheless. Garlic dip I'm very fussy with and this was unreallllllll thanks to the guys

The good: Refurbished bar is great.Bar Tapas food.... fantastic.Service is good..... atmosphere good. The bad: 5 visits out of 6 there was no craft ale or beer of any kind (John Smiths excluded as its not quite beer😁) Its lager or something else. So we vote with our feet and have a lovely pint or 4 of IPA with our food 10 mins walk at the Highfield.

Menu pricing misleading. Happy Hour section clearly stated that 2 courses main and starter for 8.95 except steak and fish. We ordered a ‘starter from the anti pasta section though there were no prices against any of the choices and chicken (though if the portion was any smaller if should have been termed pigeon). When the bill came we had been charged £2 for the starter. Where this arbitrary amount came from was not clear. When the bill was queried the manager who refused to give her name other than Hayley said the offer only applied to pizzas and pastas, though nowhere did it say this . She said she hadn’t explained as one of our party was a regular she should have known. She said it wasn’t totataalyclear and that the menus were being changed anyway. Though the amount was trivial we believed that we had been mislead and should have had that amount removed from the bill. Either as manager she should have been given discretion to act or better training to fit her for the role. As part this is presumably part of a group it would be a pity if the West Rainton restaurant coloured peoples opinion of others in the group as From my experience the Coxhoe Italian Farmhouse is excellent.

Visited a few weeks ago.The service was very very slow, people who came in after us getting food before us. We complained and were told the food wouldn’t be long We waited over an hour and quarter from ordering to getting our main course. We were given a free round of drinks, free deserts and a discount.Hence we gave them a second chance tonight. We had a table booked for 5 people and were squeezed onto a table suitable for 4. We had to ask to be re seated.Again service was ridiculously slow. Wine that was on the menu no longer available as changing suppliers. Food not available as the menus were getting updated. Had to chase servers for drinks.By the time we had finished our main course it was too late for deserts. On both visits the food was just average. Very disappointed twice

We ate here on monday night, which was the start of the eat out to help out.We normally go to Coxhoe but it was fully booked. We were seated in the conservatory and found the restuarant fairly quiet which soon changed.Service was great, ample time between courses. Which is always appreciated, staff were polite and attentive.Starters garlic bread w cheeseMains steaks, mixed grills and spag bolMixed desserts. The only downside for me, last time I visited they had a wide range of S43 beers on offer. That's now down to one draught beer, which was nice. That's not a negative on the resturnant.Prices £105.00 down to £65 due to boris footing the bill.Nice as always, can always recommend this restaurant.

Came here yesterday for a quick meal.. bar staff and waiting staff (no name badges) were very helpful and professional. Starters were great cream of vegetable, only niggle I had was with my main, there version of mixed grill. Chicken was a little dry but everything else was delicious, there side sauce which was there blue cheese was the best ever I've had in any restaurant. Great place for couples and family's . Will be going back soon with my child next time.
