The Pack Horse in County Durham

Turned up to meet friends for meal. Waitress said nobody had booked in under the name l give or time..l was ready to go....friend had got off her seat to go to loo and saw me.

My wife and i "discovered" this lovely pub after visiting Tyne Valley Motorhomes which is just over the road from them . The staff are fantastic and really friendly, and because it is dog friendly as well, its a winner from us. Also the staff have a genuine love for dogs (even our yappy Shih-poo ) which is amazing. The food is fantastic value and beer price's are very good.It has a welcoming relaxed atmosphere which i really can't fault. The only downside is that we live in Stockton, about 35 miles away so it can't be our local ! But we did buy a campervan from Tyne Valley Motorhomes so will be back at every opportunity. Well done to everyone in the running of this awesome pub.

Lovely clean friendly pub with a good variety of food. Would definitely go back,and would recommend.

My wife and I have just visited and enjoyed it. We both chose the surf, turf and cluck. The steak was cooked just as we like it and the chicken was moist and not dried out like some places. The young lady who served us was very friendly and efficient. It's been a while since we were last here but on the evidence of today's visit it will not be long until we go back.

Very good prices, reasonable portion size, I will definitely visit again. Some menu shortages because of Brexit but everyone is facing that and most food was available.

Fantastic meal and service yesterday, didn't opt for a traditional Sunday lunch but went for the steak and ale pie with mash and peas instead with gravy, absolutely fantastic and will definitely be getting it again , staff are always friendly polite and courteous , lovely friendly pub with good food 👍

We decided to try the Pack Horse again after a couple of years. They still don't know what grilled chicken is as the chicken looks like its been removed from the freezer bag and microwaved. I was expecting more from my steak and was left disappointed as I had to rush my meal as it got colder and colder. On the plus side one of our party really enjoyed their meal of fish and chips. In conclusion I personally will not be returning.

We went there today for a meal, the staff were friendly but what put me off was the lack of cleanliness, the area we were sitting at was a bit grubby and needed a good wipe around. There's a good choice on the menu and what we all had was ok but I must admit I've has nicer elsewhere

It was quite nice to be honest,first time out to a pub since lockdown and thourghly enjoyed myself
